"Do you believe in magic?" You will when you garter-stitch a couple of Be Sweet Magic Balls (about $30 each) on big needles. The baby mohair yarn changes automatically, and the resulting scarf, including fringe, is dramatic at 90 inches long.

Needles
-- Size 35 (19 mm) needles OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
-- Crochet hook

Gauge
7 sts = 4" (10 cm) in Garter st (row gauge varies depending on yarn type).

Note: Magic Ball is a combination of several types of yarn knotted together continuously in one skein.

 

Scarf
Cast on 18 sts. Work even in Garter st (k every row) until piece measures 70 inches from beg. Bind off.

Fringe
For each short edge, cut 48 strands of yarn, each 14 inches long. For each fringe, place 4 strands together. Fold the strands in half, and using a crochet hook, knot 12 fringes evenly spaced along each edge. Trim ends.
