With MC and shorter circular needles, using the backward loop method, cast on 30 sts. Work in St st.
Row 1 (RS): K1, M11, k to last st, M1, k1—32 sts.
Row 2 (WS): P1, M1, p to last sts, M1, p1—34 sts.
Rows 3-9: Rep Rows 1 and 2, ending with RS row—48 sts after Row 9 in finished.
Rows 10-14: Word even in St st.
Row 15 (RS): K12, place rem sts on holder.
Shape right shoulder—Rows 16-20: Work even in St st on 12 sts.
Row 21 (RS): K 12 sts, cast on 12 sts—24 sts.
Row 22: P2, k1, p1, k1, p to end of row.
Row 23: K to last 5 sts, p1, k1, p1, k2.
Row 24: P2, k1, p1, k1, p to last 2 sts, p2tog.
Row 25: K2tog, k to last 5 sts, p1, k1, p1, k2.
Row 26-32: Rep Rows 24-25—15 sts rem after Row 32 (WS is finshed).
Place sts on holder. Cut yarn, leaving a 6: tail.
Shape left shoulder: Place yoke sts from holder onto needle, ready to work a RS row.
Row 15: Join yarn and bind off 24 sts for back of neck, k to end of row—12 sts rem.
Rows 16-20: Work even in St st on 12 sts.
Row 21: Cast on 12 sts, k to end of row, pm—24 sts.
Row 22: P to last 5 sts, k1, p1, k1, p2.
Row 23: K2, p1, k1, p1, k to end of row.
Row 24: P2tog tbl, p to last 5 sts, k1, p1, k1 p2.
Row 25: K2, p1, k1, p1, k to last 2 sts, ssk.
Rows 26-32: Rep Rows 24-25—15 sts rem after Row 32 is finished. Do not cut yarn.
