Autumn Leaves Belt
Knit this unusual and colorful belt for a special fall outfit.
Cotton Classic from Tahki-Stacy
Charles
100% mercerized cotton; 1 3/4 oz. (50 g); 108 yds. (100 m)
- 2 skeins #3747 (burgundy--MC)
- 1 skein #3432 (chocolate)
- 1 skein (olive)
- 1 skein (rust)
- 1 skein (gold)
- Sizes E/4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
- Blunt-end yarn needle
18 sc and 18 rows = 4 inches (10 cm).
Belt
With MC, ch 9.
- Row 1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across -- 8 sc. Ch 1, turn.
- Row 2: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
- Rep Row 2 until Belt measures approx 28 inches or desired length. Keep in mind that to be worn as shown, Belt should be about 6 to 8 inches less than total hip measurement.
Note: Knot 4 tying fringes along each short edge of Belt.
Cut 30-inch lengths of yarn. For each fringe, hold 2 strands tog; fold the strands in half, and pull the loop at the fold through the short edge of Belt, pull the ends through the loop and tighten. Knot the ends of each tying fringe. To wear, hold the 4 tying fringes on each side tog as one and tie as shown.
Note: Make leaves in any combination of shapes and colors. Make enough to cover entire Belt or just each side of center front, as desired.
Leaf A
Ch 7.
- Row 1 (RS): Starting in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each of next 5 ch, 3 sc in last ch; working along opposite edge of foundation ch, sc in each of next 5 sts. Ch 1, turn.
- Row 2: Sk first sc, working in back lp only, sc in each of next 5 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 5 sc. Ch 1, turn.
- Row 3: Work as for Row 2. Fasten off.
Leaf B
- Work as for Leaf A until Row 3 has been completed.
- Rows 4-7: Work as for Row 2 of Leaf A.
- Row 8: Sk first sc, working in back lp only, sc in each of next 5 sc, sc in next sc, ch 10 for stem; starting in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in each of next 9 ch, sc in same sc with last sc worked, sc in each of next 5 sc. Fasten off.
Leaf C
Make 5 pieces as for Leaf A. Arrange all 5 pieces in a circle on a flat surface with WS facing up and so that the center st of last row of each Leaf is in the middle. With yarn needle and matching yarn, sew adjacent sts of adjacent Leaves tog, joining only the center 9 sts of last row of each Leaf, and leaving the first 2 sts and last 2 sts of each row free.
Join matching yarn with sl st in joining bet 2 Leaves; ch 10. Starting in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each of next 9 ch, join with sl st to WS of joined Leaf. Fasten off.
Leaf D
Ch 11.
- Row 1 (WS): Starting in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in each of next 4 ch, sc in each of next 3 ch, hdc in each of next 2 ch, 5 dc in last ch; working along opposite edge of foundation ch, hdc in each of next 2 sts, sc in next st, sl st in next st. Ch 1, turn.
- Row 2: Working in back lp only, sc in first sc, hdc in each of next 3 sts, 2 dc in each of next 4 sts, dc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts, sl st in each of next 4 sts. Ch 1, but do not turn.
- Rnd 3: Working in back lp only, sl st in each st around outside edge of Leaf. Fasten off.
Join matching yarn with sl st to WS of Leaf at base end (see photo). Work Stem as for Leaf C.

The wrong Web address is given for the instructions ... it goes to a site for the Meredith Corp. Yikes! I do like the crocheted cotton leaf patterns and plan to make a set ... now that I've found the instructions. Thanks.
