Next row: With MC, p2; *with A, p1, with MC, p3; rep from * across. Fasten off MC. With A, work 10 rows in St st.

Next row (RS): *With A, k1; with B, k1; rep from * across.

Next row: *With A, p1; with B, p1; rep from * across. Fasten off A. With B, work in St st until piece measures 4 (4 1/2, 5) inches from beg, dec 2 (4, 2) sts on last WS row -- 80 (86, 92) sts.

Row 1 (RS): K1, *k4, k2tog; rep from * to last st, k1 -- 67 (72, 77) sts.

Row 2 and all WS rows: Purl.

Row 3: K1, *k3, k2tog; rep from * to last st, k1 -- 54 (58, 62) sts.

Row 5: K1, *k2, k2tog; rep from * to last st, k1 -- 41 (44, 47) sts.

Row 7: K1, *k1, k2tog; rep from * to last st, k1 -- 28 (30, 32) sts.

Row 9: K2 tog across -- 14 (15, 16) sts. Cut yarn, leaving a long end. Thread end through rem sts; pull and fasten securely. Sew Hat seam.

Wind C around a 3-1/2-inch-wide piece of cardboard 12 times. Cut yarn, leaving a long end. Thread end through needle and slip needle through all loops; tie. Remove cardboard and wind yarn tightly around loops 3/4 inch below fold; fasten. Cut through loops; trim ends. Sew tassel to Hat.
