Instructions 6-8

6. Armhole Shaping. Row 1 (RS): Sl st in first 6 hdc, ch 1, hdc in same st as last sl st, hdc in each hdc across, leaving last 5 sts unworked; turn -- 31 (34, 37, 40) sts.

Row 2: Ch 2, hdc2tog over next 2 hdc, hdc in each hdc across; work hdc2tog over last 2 hdc; turn. Rep Row 2 until 27 (28, 29, 30) sts rem.

Next Row: Ch 2, hdc in each st to end of row; turn. ** Rep last row until armhole measures approx 4.5 (5, 5.5, 5.5) inches; end with a WS row.

7. Shoulder Straps. Row 1: Ch 2, hdc in next 6 hdc, hdc2tog over next 2 hdc; turn, leaving rem sts unworked. Place marker at end of row.

Row 2: Ch 2 , hdc2tog over first 2 sts, hdc in each hdc across; turn -- 7 sts.

*** Rows 3-4: Ch 2, hdc in each st to end of row; turn.

Row 5: Ch 2, hdc2tog over next 2 sts, hdc in each hdc to last 2 sts, hdc2tog over last 2 sts -- 5 sts; turn.

Row 6 (Buttonhole Row): Ch 2, hdc in next st, ch 1, sk next hdc, hdc in last 2 sts; turn.

Row 7: Ch 2, hdc in next hdc, hdc in ch-1 sp, hdc in last 2 sts; turn.

Row 8: Ch 2, hdc2tog, hdc in each of last 2 sts.

Row 9: Rep Row 8 -- 3 sts rem. Row 10: Work 1 row even. Fasten off. ***

8. Work Shoulder Strap on opposite side of Back as follows: With RS facing, sk next 9 (10, 11, 12) hdc; join MC with sl st to next hdc, ch 2 -- counts as hdc; hdc2tog over next 2 hdc, hdc in each hdc across; turn.

Next Row: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc across; work hdc2tog over last 2 sts; turn. Rep from *** to ***.
