  • With smaller hook, 3 pat reps and 7 rows = 4 inches (10 cm). Take time to check your gauge.

  • Beg trcl: Ch 4, leaving last lp of each st on hook, work 2 tr in specified st, yo and draw through rem 3 lps on hook.

Row 1 (RS): Beg trcl in first trcl; *beg trcl in top of cluster just made (this cluster will be lying sideways), dtr in top of last trcl from previous row for a diagonal st, dtr in top of next trcl from previous row for a diagonal st; rep from * 2 (3) more times, working last dtr in 4th (5th) vertical cluster; turn. Leave rem sts unworked. Row 2: Ch 6, trcl in first vertical cluster; (ch 6, sc in sp bet 2 sideways clusters, ch 6, trcl in next cluster) 2 (3) times; turn. Rows 3-5: Work even in pat. Fasten off. With RS facing, sk next 2 pat reps, join MC with sl st in top of next vertical cluster; work in pat to end; turn. Work to correspond to first side, reversing shaping.

LEFT FRONT
With MC and smaller hook, ch 63 (73). Row 1 (RS): Dc in 4th ch from hook -- counts as 2 dc; dc in each ch to end; turn -- 61 (71) dc. Work in pat as for Back, starting with Row 2, until piece measures same length to armhole.

SHAPE ARMHOLE
Work as for Back, keeping front edge even.

SHAPE FRONT
Row 1 (RS): Work in pat across, ending with dtr in last cluster; turn. Row 2: Ch 6, trcl in next vertical cluster; work in pat to end; turn. Rows 3-4: Rep Rows 1-2. Cont even in pat on rem 2 (3) pat reps until work measures same length as Back. Fasten off.

RIGHT FRONT
Work as for Left Front, reversing all shaping.

Row 1: With smaller hook, MC and RS of Back facing, join yarn with sl st in top of first cluster of Back armhole, beg trcl in same sp, ch 6, sc in top of next cluster, ch 6, trcl in top of next cluster, ch 6, sc in top of next cluster, ch 6, trcl in joining sp of next 2 clusters; (ch 5, sc in sp bet next 2 clusters) 11 times; (ch 6, sc in next cluster, ch trcl in next cluster) twice; turn -- 15 pat reps. Work even in pat for 10 more rows. Edging row: Ch 1, sc in first cluster, picot; *Ch 6, sc in next sc, picot, ch 6, sc in next cluster, picot; rep from * across, do not make a picot in last sc. Fasten off.

Sew side and Sleeve seams.

LOWER EDGING
Rnd 1: With RS facing and smaller hook join MC with sl st at bottom corner of Right Front, ch 1, sc in same sp, *ch 5, dtr in last sc worked, sk next 4 sts, sc in next st, picot; rep from * across lower edge to opposite corner of Left Front. Fasten off.

FLOWER MOTIF (make 10 [11] each with A, B, and C)
With smaller hook, ch 5, join with sl st in first ch to form ring. Rnd 1: (Ch 5, 3 dtr in ring, ch 5, sl st in ring) 5 times. Fasten off. Sew motifs around Front Back neck edges, alternating colors as show.

TIE
With larger hook and 2 strands MC, ch 110. Row 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc in each ch to end. Fasten off. Loop ends of tie through openwork where Front shaping begins, and tie in a bow. With yarn needle, weave in ends.
