Stitch Abbreviation
  • Sc2tog: Draw up a lp in each of the next 2 sts, yo and draw through all lps on hook.

Note: Body is worked in one piece to armholes.

Ch 67 (73, 81, 87, 101, 115). Row 1 (RS): Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch to end; turn--66 (72, 80, 86, 100, 114) sc. Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc to end; turn. Rep last row 6 (6, 6, 6, 12, 10) more times. Next row (Buttonhole row, RS): Ch 1, sc in each of the next 2 sc, ch a, sk next 2 sc (buttonhole), sc in each sc to end; turn. Next row: Ch 1, sc in each st, working 2 sc in ch-2 sp of previous row; turn. Work 8 (8, 10, 10, 10, 12) rows even. Rep Buttonhole row. Rep Buttonhole row. Next row: Ch 1, sc in each st, working 2 sc in ch-2 sp of previous row; turn. Work 3 rows even, end at side edge.

SHAPE NECK

Next row (WS): Ch 1, sc in each st to last 9 (10, 12, 12, 15, 17) sc, sc2tog over next 2 sts; turn. Leave rem 7 (8, 10, 10, 13, 15) sts unworked. Next row: Ch 1, sc2tog over first 2 sts, sc in each sc to end; turn. Next row: Ch 1, sc in each sc to last 2 sts, sc2tog over last 2 sts; turn--6 (7, 7, 8, 8, 9) sc. Work 3 rows even. Fasten off.

BACK

With RS facing, sk next 4 (4, 4, 4, 8, 10) sc for underarm, join yarn with sl st to next sc, ch 1, sc in same sp, sc in each of next 25 (27, 31, 35, 35, 39) sc; turn. Leave rem sts unworked. Cont even on these 26 (28, 32, 36, 36, 40) sc for Back until work measures same length as Right Front. Fasten off.

LEFT FRONT

With RS facing, sk next 4 (4, 4, 4, 8, 10) sc for underarm, join yarn with sl st to next sc, ch 1, sc in same sp, sc in each sc to end; turn. Cont on these 16 (18, 20, 21, 24, 27) sts as for Left Front, omitting Buttonhole row. Work 11 (11, 13, 13, 15, 17) rows even, ending at side edge.

SHAPE NECK

Ch 22 (22, 22, 24, 28, 30) sl st in first ch to join in rnd. Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in each ch around, join with sl st to first sc. Place marker on last st for end of rnd--22 (22, 22, 24, 28, 30) sc. Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, join with sl st to first sc. Rep last rnd until work measures 4-1/2 inches. Place marker at end of last rnd.

SHAPE TOP

Note: Beginning here, work in rows.
Row 1: Ch 1, sc in each sc to end of rnd, do not join; turn. Cont working back and forth for 2 (2, 2, 2, 3, 3) more rows. Next row: Ch 1, sc2tog over first 2 sts, sc in each sc to last 2 sts, sc2tog over last 2 sts; turn. Rep last row until 12 sts rem. Fasten off.

Finishing Instructions

Sew shoulder seams. Sew Sleeves into armholes, joining open rows of Sleeves above markers to underarms to form square armholes. Sew buttons opposite buttonholes. With yarn needle, weave in ends.
