Flower Centerpiece

At the center of the pinwheels are
letters that spell out "spring."

• 6 wooden dowels
• Paintbrush
• Green crafts paint
• Hot-glue gun and glue sticks
• 6 1/2-inch screw posts
• Plastic letters
• Paper in contrasting patterns
• Scissors
• Ruler
• Spray adhesive or nonwrinkling paper glue

1. To make the flower stems, paint dowels green. Hot-glue a post from a screw post to the top of each dowel. Glue colorful plastic letters to the screw heads.

2. Glue and cut out six 4-inch squares made from two contrasting papers. (Glue them together using spray adhesive or a nonwrinkling paper glue.) Assemble pinwheels, and use the screw heads to attach to the dowels.
