Mother Teacup Candles
Make these teatime treasures using dainty teacups filled with candle wax and sprinkled with a dusting of glitter.
- Small china teacups
- Candle wax
- Empty coffee can
- Coloring for wax or old candles, if desired
- White birthday candles
- White glitter
1. Pour hot water into the teacups to warm them as the wax is melting. Melt the wax in a coffee can, setting the can in a pan of water on the stove or hot plate.
2. Color the wax using old colored candles, or purchased candle coloring, if desired.
3. Remove the wax from the heat. Pour the hot water out of the cups and dry thoroughly. Carefully pour the wax into the cups and let them set until a soft covering appears on top of the wax (about two or three minutes).
4. Push a birthday candle into the wax and steady it until it stands up straight. Add glitter to the top of the wax.
TIP: After the candle is completely burned, the cup can be washed in very hot water to remove the wax residue.
- For other great candle containers, scout flea markets for lone sugar jars, creamers, and small serving bowls.
- To add a decorative spoon to your teacup candle simply lay it on the saucer, securing with a dab of hot wax.
