Make the perfect envelope to go with your handpicked or handmade cards.

complements your card.
- A card
- A sheet of paper
- Scissors
- Adhesive
1. Download the free patterns for this project (Downloading requires Adobe Acrobat software).
2. Trace or copy the pattern onto the wrong side of a sheet of paper and cut out. Score along the dashed fold lines. Enlarge or reduce the pattern so that your card fits inside the shaded area with at least a 1/8-inch border all around. 3. For the square-flap envelope, fold the side flaps in and apply adhesive to each. Fold the bottom flap up and secure it to the side flaps. 4. For the pointed-flap envelope, fold the side flaps in and then apply glue to the bottom flap and fold up. 5. For the business and rectangle envelopes, fold the side flaps in and apply adhesive to each. Fold the bottom flap up and secure it to the side flaps. 6. Place the card inside, add glue to the top flap, and seal.
- Square envelopes will require extra postage. Check with your local post office.
- The thickness of the envelope (with the card inside of it) must be between .007 inch and 1/4 inch thick. All envelopes must be between 3-1/2 inches and 61/8 inches tall, and between 5 inches and 11-1/2 inches long.
- Use a heavy-weight paper but one that is lighter than card stock (it is too stiff to fold). Avoid glossy papers and dark papers -- they make it harder to read addresses and attach bar codes.
