Best Friends Scrapbook

Rubber stamp kids on paper and make your own scrapbook and bookmark.

What You Need:

  • Fiskars small paper cutter
  • 8-1/2 x 11 inch sheets of gray, white, and cream card stock (or the colors of your choice)
  • Small rubber stamps such as flowers, hearts, stars, and a sun
  • White opaque ink pad
  • Hero Arts Kids rubber stamps of your choice
  • Black dye ink pad
  • Colored pencils, marker, or crayons
  • 1/2 inch dimensional self-stick dots
  • Scissors
  • Small sticker letters
  • 1/8 inch hole punch
  • 1 yard of narrow cording

Instructions:

1. Use the small paper cutter to cut one sheet of gray card stock in half for the cover, so that each piece measures 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches. Ink the small stamp or stamps of your choice with opaque white ink. One at a time, press the stamps on one side of the paper. Keep stamping all over the paper to make a pale design. Reink the stamp after each impression.

2. Generously ink one of the Hero Kid stamps of your choice. Firmly press the stamp onto a sheet of white card stock, being careful not to move the stamp once you press it on the paper. Carefully lift the stamp up off the paper to keep from smearing the ink. Stamp one or more other kids on the same piece of paper.

3. Use colored pencils, crayons, or markers to color the figures in as desired, adding patterns (dots, stripes, etc.) to the clothing as you like. Use scissors to cut around the figures.

4. Remove the protective paper from one side of several dimensional dots. Press the dots on the back of the paper kids. Remove the other piece of protective paper and position the kids on the cover, and press. Press the sticker letters onto the cover in the words of your choice.

5. To make each page for the scrapbook, cut white card stock in half using the small paper cutter. Decorate the pages as desired, or just leave the pages blank to decorate later. See the page above for an idea as to how to decorate the pages.

6. Cut a 2 x 5-1/2 inch strip from cream card stock. Fold the strip in half to make a 1 x 5-1/2 inch binding. Measure 1-1/2 inch in from each end of the binding and 1/2 inch from the fold. Use the 1/8 inch hold punch to punch through both layers of the binding. Then, gather the front cover, the pages, and the back cover together. Use the hole punch to make holes through the covers and pages in the same places as for the binding.

7. Place the binding over the book. Insert the narrow cording through the holes from back to front. Tie a cording into a bow on the front of the book.
