How to Make It
  1. Download and enlarge the snowflake pattern; set aside.
  2. From red wool, cut a 54-inch circle. Using #3 white perle cotton, work blanket stitches around the edge of the wool, alternating stitch lengths -- approximately 3/8 and 7/8 inches.
  3. Trace 12 snowflakes onto fusible-web paper. Fuse to white wool felt. Cut out the snowflakes and remove paper.
  4. Mark six equal sections around the tablecloth edge. Pin a snowflake 2 inches above each mark. Space and pin six more snowflakes between the first set of snowflakes.
  5. With red #5 perle cotton, sew 19 buttons to each snowflake, catching the tablecloth in the stitches. At the tip of each point, sew a 5/8-inch button, then a 3/4-inch button, followed by a 7/8-inch button, working toward the center. Sew a 5/8-inch button in the center of each flake.
  6. Randomly stitch three to four 3/8-inch buttons between snowflakes with white perle cotton.
