Folded Paper Wreath Christmas Tree Ornament

Have the kids fold paper to make this pretty wreath to hang on the Christmas tree.

What You Need:

  • Scrapbook or wrapping papers in coordinating prints or other selected papers
  • White glue
  • Toothpick
  • Scissors or paper cutter
  • Hanging thread
  • Tiny buttons or jingle bells
  • Sequins or acrylic gemstones
  • Ribbon
  • Holly cutouts or other desired trims

How to Make It:

  1. Cut and fold paper according to the pattern.
  2. Alternate papers as desired or use a one-color paper scheme. Connect enough pieces for wreath. As you work, gently coax the folded paper chain into a curve. The pieces will slide a little to accommodate the curve if it is not too severe.
  3. Add ribbon bow, sequins for holly berries, cutout holly leaves, small buttons, hanging thread, or other trims as desired. Note: To make cutting quicker, cut paper in multiples of the length needed; fold and then cut individual pieces from the folded length.

The downloadable pattern is pretty useless without measurements. Although we could experiment and figure out what we needed, I feel it is bad form to post this without thorough and complete instructions. As Donald Trump would say, "Your're Fired!"

If I remember correctly, we made these paper chains from the paper gum was wrapped in. So, think about the size of a gum wrapper for the size of the paper. Hope this helps.

Terrible instructions. No sizes. I used an 8.5x11 and after folding cut it in half. 1/2 the folding makes for a faster craft.
