Crafty Christmas Scene Made from Wool

• Scissors
• Red plush or boiled wool
• Ivory felt or boiled wool
• Scraps of tan polar fleece
• Pinking shears
• Twigs

• Hot-glue gun and hotmelt adhesive
• Lightweight cardboard
• Twine or cord (belt)
• Small wooden star

• Red bead (reindeer nose)

• Thick green wool or felt
• Artificial snow batting or polyester fiberfill

1. Download and print the free patterns. Cut out the pieces from the appropriate material.

1. For the suit and coat, mark the fold line on the wrong side of the red fabric. Cut the slit as marked. Cut the hatband from ivory, using pinking shears on one long edge. Use pinking shears to cut an ivory beard.
2. For the arms, legs, and neck, cut two 4-1/2-inch-long twigs for arms, 6-7-inch-long twigs for legs, and two 1-1/2-inch twig pieces for neck.
3. Using large dollops of hot glue, attach the arms, legs, and neck pieces to a 2-inch-square of cardboard body as shown in the photo.
4. Slide the neck pieces through the slit in the suit as shown in the photo.
5. Fold the suit along the fold line and glue into place around the square of cardboard. The neck pieces should extend beyond the slit in the suit.
6. Glue the hat to the top of the neck twigs and glue the band over the hat as shown. Glue the beard in place. Tack the twine belt over the suit.
7. Paint the star white. While the paint is still wet, sprinkle with glitter. Trim evergreen sprig into a tree shape. Brush the tips with white paint. Glue the star over the belt and the tree to one hand.

1. Trace the reindeer body onto cardboard twice and cut out. Glue the bodies to the wrong side of the tan felt with one facing left and one facing right.
2. Trim the felt, leaving 1/2 inch beyond the cardboard. Turn the excess to the back side of the cardboard and glue it down.
3. Cut four 5-inch long twigs for the legs and 2-inch-long branching twigs for the antlers.
4. Cut two ears from tan fabric and one tail from ivory. Pleat the ears at the bottom edge and glue. Fringe the curved edge of the tail.
5. Glue the legs, tail, and one ear to a body piece as shown. Add twig antlers and second ear. Glue the second body over the first, sandwiching the legs, ears, antlers, and tail between them. Glue the nose in place.

1. Cut long, narrow triangles from stiffened felt for the tree shapes. Glue twigs in place for the trunks.
2. Glue the trees to the green fabric with wrong sides facing. Trim away the excess green material so the layers match.

1. Cover an area (like a window sill) with artificial snow batting or polyester fiberfill.
2. Arrange the figures in the snow so they stand upright.
