Valentine’s dessert

Individual Brownie Trifle

Well, hello, my pretties! Check those out those head-turning Brownie Trifles.

The best part about this treat is its a 20-minute dessert from start to finish that’s also Valentine’s perfect. It’s simple enough to make and can be prepared the evening prior to serving. To do so, assemble the trifle up until the final layer and then cover and refrigerate it over night. The final layer can be placed on top prior to serving to prevent any shrinking and receding of that layer. The slight receding won’t change the flavor, but if you are like me, you might be slightly particular about finishing touches.

In fact I am so particular I added a few chocolate shavings instead of the cocoa dusting as the recipe calls for since I was out of cocoa powder. I know I could have left it alone and it would have looked fine, but I couldn’t stand for it to be bare.

To finish like the picture, level off the whip cream by pulling a spatula across  the top and then sprinkle chocolate shards on top of it. To make the shards melt 2 oz. of chocolate and spread it thinly onto a piece of parchment paper. From there leave it to rest and to harden, then roll the parchment paper and the chocolate will break in shards—perfect for garnishing.

Valentine’s Day

Things can get a bit gloomy this time of year here in Central PA so I’m always thankful when Valentine’s Day rolls around. This mid-February celebration is a wonderful reminder to take a moment to let the people closest to us know how much we love and appreciate them. Love comes in so many different forms. Whether you are single or happily married or committed for 25+ years, I think this holiday is the perfect occasion to remind all of your loved ones how important they are to you. While I know chocolate is a go-to for this holiday, I’m freshening things up this year and taking inspiration from the equally romantic strawberry. Plus, I’m ready for summer, and these delicious red berries are my key to getting there – mentally, at least. I hope you enjoy this little collection of berry-goodness and find something you can whip up for that special someone in your life.

1. Fresh Strawberry Fool // 2. Strawberry Chiffon Pie // 3. Fresh Berry Napoleons // 4. Strawberry Shortbread // 5. Strawberry Meringue Pie // 6. Fresh Strawberry Bars // 7. Vanilla Cake with Buttercream, Berries, and Jam // 8. Strawberry Souffle // 9. Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Cakes

Now that dessert is taken care of, there is nothing more adorable or romantic than a homemade valentine. Whether you make a beautiful card or a decorative item for your home, get out your glue gun and glitter and start crafting. Sometimes it’s hard to come up with an idea or inspiration. Don’t worry though, I’ve done the work for you and picked eight fabulous and festive projects that will warm your and your loved one’s hearts this February 14.

1. Whaley Love Card  // 2. Ribbon Heart Garland // 3. Red Hot Cinnamon Valentine // 4. Heart Spools Valentine Plaque // 5. Fluttering Heart Wreath // 6. Love Pillow

Let us know in the comments below what fun ways you share your Valentine’s Day love this year.
