Hey everyone! It’s Ali, back from Gimme Some Oven to share with you the second recipe in our Month Of Drinks. And I’m pretty sure you need to run out and grab the ingredients for this one stat because it is a perfect drink for summer entertaining — Strawberry Sangria!
I have had this recipe from BHG pinned for awhile to try because everything about it just seems to sing of summer. From the pretty ripe berries, to the citrus-y orange, to the crisp white wine — yes, I love the twist of using white instead of red — it just seems made for warm evenings out on the back deck with friends. Mine couldn’t stop raving about it.
If you’re the one doing the mixing, you can also rest easy because this strawberry sangria recipe is ridiculously easy to make. And if you really want to make it easy, you can skip the step of making simple syrup (step 1 in the instructions) and instead just stir your wine and 1/2 cup of honey together until they honey is dissolved. Then add in your fresh strawberries and half of the orange slices, cover and chill for at least 6 hours or up to 24 hours. Then stir in the sparkling water and a few more orange slices before serving as the instructions say.
With this simple twist, you save an extra 10 or so minutes of prep time, and the sangria will be naturally sweetened. Win-win.
The other bonus with making sangria is that you don’t need to invest in expensive wine, since all of the extra add-ins help to flavor it. I keep a stash of a certain famous 2-buck (actually $3) wine on hand year-round especially for that reason. :)
