Summer is quickly approaching and we’re all making plans to spruce up our homes indoors and out for the season. One of the most classic ways you can refresh you home for summer is by introducing striped accessories into your seasonal décor.
When it comes to patterns I think of stripes as “neutrals” in comparative terms to color. Stripes just go with everything whether it’s modern or more traditional designs, and they play well with patterned partners in similar or contrasting colors. Stripes are what I refer to as the perfect “background singer”, they greatly enhance the performance (of a space) but don’t compete for the spotlight.
Many traditionally associate stripes with coastal or nautical spaces, but in truth they appear in contemporary and eclectic spaces too. Stripes can be bold, pinstripe, or criss cross, but they’re an easy way to add that summer vibe in a coordinating colorway.
The easiest way to incorporate stripes into your summer décor is with an area rug and/or toss pillows in casual cotton or outdoor fabrics, as seen in these three porch scenes below.
So if you’re looking for a few fun accessories to bring summer stripes to your own porch or space, here are a few of my favorites from this season:
