Best Of: Glass Lamps

Jane wrote to me the other day, inquiring about a glass lamp in a favorite image from the Better Homes & Gardens galleries and also appearing on page 10 of the recent publication New Cottage Style.

“Hi Kate, I have been looking at pictures of living rooms in the New Cottage Style by Better Homes and Gardens.  There is a particular room that I love – it has a fireplace, and a funky bright turquoise coffee table. There are two glass table lamps – round bases with white tapering shades. Can you tell me where to find these lamps?”  – Jane

From her description, I immediately knew it was this image of a picture perfect cozy coastal inspired family room.

Jane was smitten with the lamps and I did my best to find them online for her.  ‘Tis true, the glass jug shape lamp has a little of everything!  It’s casual, elegant, timeless, and complements every style of decor.

  1. The recycled glass lamp from Shades of Light is wonderful!

  2. I have that exact recycled glass jug, but it’s not a lamp! I imagine that it could easily be converted to a lamp, though, so maybe that’s what they did in the picture?

I bought it this past winter at HomeSense (the Canadian version of HomeGoods) for about $12.99. Hope it helps!

  3. Love the Ballard lamp. I love the coastal feel but what would you do to make these work for fall??

  4. I have the Clear lamp base from Target.com and it’s a great inexpensive glass lamp.

  5. Hi I just picked up a glass lamp at a farm sale.
Paid $1.00 needs a shade. It has a harp and the shade should be no longer than 9″. I have been to quite a few stores but no luck with my search. Linda

  6. I just picked up a GREAT clear glass lamp with burlap/tan shade at homegoods. It even has a cork top that the bulb socket goes into. It was under $50! They had green glass too but no blue. It was very similar to the Bordeaux Lamp from Ballard Designs.

  7. There is also this one from Ikea. Pretty awesome price too!

  8. I love the Eva colored glass lamp from Pottery Barn. It has beautiful seeded glass, and is $99.

  9. For me, the bigger the glass lamp, the better, also if it’s like sea-glass, all the more better. :-)
