get the look: a skateboarding inspired nursery

Written on March 11, 2014 at 3:05 pm , by

Do y’all have spring fever as much as I do?  It’s getting really gorgeous here (Atlanta) and I just want to be outside in it!  Here is a room inspired by the spring that’s in the air, with a vintage west coast skateboarding feel that would work for a girl or a boy.  (How cute is that tank?!)  Check out last year’s spring fever post, too.  Sources listed below image.

Get the Look: Little Lone Ranger

Written on March 2, 2013 at 2:09 pm , by

Have you seen the trailer for the new Lone Ranger movie coming out this summer?  I’m pretty excited – cowboys and Johnny Depp as Tonto?  Sounds perfect.  My sister is also expecting and if she has a boy, she wants to do a cowboy inspired nursery. With that on my mind, here is some Lone Ranger inspiration for a little cowboy haven.  I love the paint on the dresser – what a great way to dress up a vintage piece!  The Hudson Bay blanket covering on the chair is also great inspiration for reupholstering a vintage chair.cowboy baby nursery inspiration

get the look: a downton abbey nursery

Written on January 16, 2013 at 3:04 pm , by

I’m so excited the Downton Abbey season has restarted, and it makes Sunday nights extra delicious.  I love soaking in all the details, from the decor to the fashion to the dialogue.  I’m particularly fond of Cora Grantham’s bedroom, with that calming shade of blue, and the moody paintings hung in gilded frames.  Here is a photo of the room from Highclere Castle, although the room really appears to have more depth and character on the show (source):If you are loving the look, here is some inspiration for a Downton nursery, if there were to be a baby Grantham (or maybe a baby Crawley?):downton abbey nursery inspirationSources, from left to right: (1) Petite Chandelier; (2) Gilt Wall Crown; (3) Beagles; (4) Brass Buffet Lamp; (5) Thomas on Saucebox; (6) Brass Candle Sconces; (7) Little Girl Silhouette; (8) Arundel Castle; (9) Grace Crib in Walnut; (10) Boats Racing; (11) Monogrammed Pillows; (12) Wardrobe; (13) Aynhoe Park; (14) Louis XVI Chair; (15) Fox Race; (16) Velvet Storage Ottoman; (17) Turquoise Overdyed Rug; (18) Tess Crib Bedding; (19) French Tassel Curtain Panels

new year’s nursery: mod princess

Written on December 20, 2012 at 12:17 am , by

Thinking about Christmas and the New Year and all the festivities around the corner makes me want lots of glitter and metallics around . . . thus, a nursery inspired by such a palette, with a modern touch to keep it from being too girly.  (Love the “dipped” dresser!  What a fun way to add a hard edge to such a feminine piece, and the tailored stripe on the chair is the perfect complement.) baby room ideasSources, from top left: (1) Cinderella’s Castle; (2) Hammered Pendant; (3) Love print; (4) C’est Tort; (5) For Like Ever; (6) Chateau de Chambord; (7) Neuschwanstein; (8) Florence & the Machine; (9) Vintage Crest; (10) Sparrow Crib; (11) Wild Things Crown; (12) Gilded Lamp; (13) Sparkle Pillows; (14) Dipped French Dresser; (15) Tailored Chair; (16) Honeycomb Rug; (17) City Baby Crib Sheet

sharing a room: cheery cherry

Written on November 21, 2012 at 3:36 pm , by

Recently, I received a request from a mom who wants her toddler daughter to share a room with her baby brother on the way.  She wanted to use her daughter’s red Pottery Barn play kitchen as a starting point, so here is a palette suitable for both.  It’s lovely on the light blue, but would also work well on a white or neutral shade of wall.  This pretty red also has me thinking about the holidays . . . shared kids bedroomSources, from top left: (1) Pink & red Print; (2) Flow Print; (3) White Pendant Light; (4) Say the Word; (5) Matchbox Collection; (6) Red Print; (7) Monarch Bed; (8) White Table Lamp; (9) Wonder, Explore, Play; (10) Radio Flyer; (11) Pedestal Table; (12) Ebony Jenny Lind Crib; (13) Red Triangle Pillows; (14) Red Ombre Dresser; (15) Retro Rocker; (16) Gray Dot Rug; (17) Flags Pillow; (18) A Little Peacock; (19) Red Retro Play Kitchen
