Trend: 20 DIY Lights for the Home!
The days are getting shorter and we’re turning on our lamps a lot sooner than we have since the Spring. I feel like it’s probably time that I update my lighting. As I’ve mentioned here on Style Spotters, I have a slight obsession with light fixtures. In the past, I’ve shared my favorite chandeliers, so today I thought it would be fun to show you my latest table lamp finds.
Lighting is such an important element when decorating. Whether it’s a table lamp, wall sconce, or ceiling fixture, what you choose for illumination can go a long way in adding the polish and sparkle that make a space come together. I like to think of lighting as the jewelry in a room. As with other home accessories, I’m always on the hunt for unique and beautiful fixtures that will stand the test of time.

One of my favorite lamps currently resides in my living room. I went with the bold choice of teal on teal. With my neutral walls, it’s the perfect pop of color in my space. My rule of thumb is to go with pieces that you love, and they will eventually make their way to the perfect spot in your home.
Since, my home is well outfitted with table lamps, I thought I’d just do some Internet browsing today and share what I found. Enjoy!
Do you like picking out lighting as much as I do? What table lamps are you loving these days?

Welcome to October! I love, love, LOVE this time of year and all of the wonderful shenanigans that come with it–Halloween mischief, apple cider, crunching through leaves on the sidewalk–I can never get enough. It’s bliss. However, I will admit, when it gets too cold to enjoy being outside all day, sprucing up the inside of your home is a must. So today I want to share with you all some awesome ideas for indoor inspiration!
I am completely obsessed with this reading loft I found on Design Mom. I know it’s designed more for families with young children…but I sort of want one for myself. Can you just imagine spending a cozy fall afternoon reading in this bright and cheery space? So colorful and fun!
I’m a huge advocate for natural light, and I love the light and airy feel of this bedroom from Style & Pepper, and the subtle feminine touches incorporated with the design. This would be a perfect spot to drink a warm cup of coffee and enjoy looking at the chilly outdoors.
And there you have it. Some of my favorite rooms from around the internet this week–leaving me, at least, with a small spout of envy. My house is definitely not anywhere as cool as any of these–but someday! Until then, Style Spotters!

Welcome to September! I can’t wait for the leaves to start changing color, the days to get chillier, and the return of jackets and leg warmers and mittens! It’s been far too hot for my taste these past several months, and I’m so excited we’re finally in the home stretch. Among many other things, fall is the beginning of the holiday season. Use these clever tips and tricks to get your home ready for all of those holiday visitors!
Entryways are one of the rooms that most often get overlooked. Nalle’s House adds a spunky spin to their entryway with an unconventional design approach! I can’t even tell you how much I love that wallpaper. Guests will be amazed as soon as they step foot into your home!
If you’re impressed with that, take a look at this bathroom revamp by A Beautiful Mess. An easy-to-create geometric stencil, a few paintbrushes and some of your favorite paint colors are all you need to transform any room in your house into a visual hotspot.
I am absolutely amazed by these LED Mason Jar lights I spotted on Sarah Hearts. Add a hand-spun twist to your home with this chandelier that is guaranteed to impress! Imagine how perfect that would look in any high-ceiling entry way–your guests would be rooted to the spot!
Eating a meal with your family and friends is often times one of the most memorable experiences people have together. These fall-themed painted burlap place settings from A Night Owl will be perfect for any upcoming family get-together.
And lastly, I love the delicate homemade feel of these DIY teacup candles from Hey Gorgeous. Whether you take a trip to your local dollar store or use old cups lying around the house, the handmade touch of these cuties will soften any space in your home, just in time for the holidays.
Until next time! Have a wonderful week!

Hello, friends! Another week has come and gone, and here we are to talk about cool things from the internet yet again. I’m not complaining. This week I came across a ton of DIY projects, and I wanted to share a couple with you today, because some things just need to have that hand-crafted touch.
I’ve dabbled in printmaking a little bit, and I have to say that big prints are A LOT of work. Luckily, for all of us who don’t have weeks at a time to spend in the print studio, Yellow Brick Home has found a way to make it a little easier. Their DIY giant frames not only make dinosaurs look even more awesome than normal, they do it in a quarter of the time.
We all know lighting can make or break a room. We also all know that the design of the lighting fixture is a vital part to any room design, as well. These simple-but-chic copper wire DIY pendant lights from Kristi Murphy carry the perfect balance of light and unique design. Ideal for a home office, study or bedroom, these lights are sure to brighten any room’s aesthetics.
If you’re looking to add a little more texture and color to your walls, look at this wood frame gallery DIY from Christina’s Adventures. I especially love the paper flower centerpiece–and what a better way to put those old books collecting dust on your shelves to use!
If I could post pictures of my cat on here, I would (never thought I would say it, but I’m totally that person who obsesses over their cat on a regular basis…). Alas, she will have to wait for another day. In the meantime, look at Cuckoo 4 Design’s cats, and the wonderful outdoor enclosure she created for her furry friends! I’ve already told my boyfriend to start planning on how he’s going to build ours. Yes. We will be those people.
And because it’s almost September, that means one thing–football season is nearly upon us! As an honorary Midwesterner, I can appreciate the rivalry shown with this broken bracket sign DIY from Sawdust & Embryos. Specify your team hostility as much or as little as you want with this fun way to (equally) show your spirit with your spouse or friends!
Until next week, compadrés! Go Broncos!
