get the look: yellow ochre + peachy pink

Trend: Yellow Ochre + Pink + Black, White, and Gray

Lately, I have been seeing a lot of yellow ochre, paired with pink, along with black, white and gray for a crisp and sophisticated palette.  I really like how it tones down the pink a bit.  See examples here:(Sources, from top left: Dining Room; Tufted Pink Sofa; Color Tipped Scarves; Book CoverPretty Suit; Yellow Moulding; Wooden Dresser; Threaded Chairs)

So, here is a little nursery inspiration based on this palette (I like the little touch of aqua added in):baby room ideasSources, from top left: (1) Silvia Pendant Light; (2) Black & White Triangles; (3) Morning Sun; (4) Howl; (5) Triangles; (6) Atlas Sound Poster; (7) Tiger says Meow; (8) Home Is; (9) Dot Pillows; (10) Pink Caravan Crib; (11) Aqua Floor Lamp; (12) White Dresser; (13) Colette the Cat; (14) Be Brave; (15) Yellow Crib Sheet; (16) Molded Rocker; (17) Marigold Rug; (19) Plus Crib Blanket; (20) Basket Storage

Fun Options for Updating Vintage Pieces

TREND:  Repurposing Vintage Dressers!

Using a vintage dresser, sideboard, or credenza is a fun way to add a bit of character to a nursery or child’s room, and can often be a great way to save a little money.  If you look in the right places, a vintage piece is often considerably less expensive than a new one (asking family members for no longer used furniture is also a sweet way to add a little family history to the room, i.e. using Grandma and Grandpa’s dresser from their first bedroom suite, etc.!) and there are plenty of options for making it suit your taste.  The changing table can be a real statement piece in a nursery, and it was the first thing I found for both Vivi and Brigette‘s rooms.  Below are some of my favorite options for repainting (find sources and links to style boards below image) for some inspiration:vintage furniture updates(1) Similar Perspecta Dresser, from the Anchorman Nursery; (2) Ultramarine Dresser, from the Blue for Two Nursery; (3) Triangle Dresser (no longer available), from the Little Lone Ranger Nursery; (4) Gold Dipped Dresser, from My Little Surfer Girl Nursery; (5) French Gold Dipped Dresser, from the Mod Princess Nursery; (6) Peach Ombre Dresser, from the Pretty Little Peach Nursery; (7) Red Ombre Dresser, from the Cheery Cherry Nursery; (8) Blue Colorblocked Dresser from the Sailor Boy Nursery

Runway to Color Palette: Seeing Green

First off, let me begin by saying, how cool is the chic below?? Of course it was the Sartorialist who captured her and her effortless style. Now, if I can get a room to be as cool and fabulous as her, then I’ve done my job. The first key component is using green. Not just any green but a collection of army, grass greens. Pair this with neutral colors so no two colors are fighting for attention. The next detail to conquer is mixing textures. The stylish girl has a fur jacket mixed with cottons and other fabrics. It immediately creates a luxurious but laid back look. I am absolutely green with envy for this look! Here’s the look:

Products: PillowCoffee TableRocking Chair, RugVaseSofa, Ladder . For even more finds inspired by this palette, go here.

Color Inspiration: Fur Jacket.
Grecian Ivory is a breathtaking option for a creamy base on the walls or inside cabinets.

Color Inspiration: Long Sleeve Shirt.
For a classic gray, Gray Clouds is the perfect choice for crisp accessories, upholstered furniture and even an accent wall.

Color Inspiration: Pants.
Both Greenfield and Courtyard are fun greens to use in a variety of ways. Try a green in a statement upholstered piece for a wow factor.

Color Inspiration: Bag.
Black Of The Night is a great classic black. Perfect for wood pieces, lighting and other accessories.
