TREND: Bar Carts
Whether it’s a vintage find or a fabulous new piece, bar carts are popping up everywhere. Their versatility and style make them a perfect addition to any dining room or kitchen space.
A few years ago I found an old metal school cart at a local thrift shop for $10. It has since become one of my favorite things to style in my home. It has classic ingredients like glasses, a cocktail shaker, and a basket or two. Then for special parties or occasions, I get to have fun incorporating different cocktail napkins, straws and colorful glassware. Not only does my bar cart serve as a functional piece in my room, it becomes a beautiful and eclectic statement piece of my own personal style.
Today, I put together a fun collection of some of my personal favorite accessories to create a really special bar cart. From a pig corkscrew to birch paper straws, this bar cart is serving up function and style.
Cheers and Happy Decorating!

TREND: Unique Accent Furniture
When it comes to decorating living spaces, one of my favorite things to pick out is accent furniture. While I tend to go a bit safe and neutral with a major piece such as a sofa or bookcase, I love getting creative and going bold with smaller pieces. To me, it’s a great way to add color and personality to a space without going overboard.
For this week’s Pin it. Get it! I was inspired by this neutral and airy living space. What really stood out to me is the gorgeous wicker and wood accent chairs. Their unique shape, lines, and texture bring this room to life and give it personality! It’s also fun to imagine what this space would like like with more colorful chairs. They would give it a whole new feel!
I’ve selected twelve of my favorite accent chairs to give you a start. So, If you are looking to add some interest, life, or color to your space, try one of these fabulous chairs for a completely new look!
As always, happy decorating!

TREND: Unique Light Fixtures
Lighting fixtures are probably one of my favorite things to choose when decorating a space. This is good news because retail companies have an amazing selection of beautiful and unique fixtures. A light fixture can really make such an impact in a space. It can quickly make an outdated room look new again. It can add a touch of modern to an otherwise traditional space. It can even serve as inspiration for putting together an entire room. I love that!
As I was searching the BHG archives for decorating ideas, I stumbled upon this gorgeous dining area. There is so much to love about this space. Among my favorite things are the pops of color in an otherwise neutral space. This makes decorating for the season so effortless. Another thing that caught my attention is the gorgeous pendant light above the table. I love that most of this space is rather traditional, warm, and a bit country, while the pendant light adds modern appeal and clean lines. It also works very well with the graphic details in the window panes and staircase. It’s perfection.
Today I’m sharing my ten favorite pendant lights. Let me tell you, it was hard to narrow it down to ten. I hope these lights will provide lots of inspiration for your interior decorating. Which is your favorite?

I don’t know about you, but I love baskets. I’m pretty certain that there is least one basket in every room of my house. Not only are baskets pretty, but they also serve as great functional pieces for the home. With their popularity increasing, you can find any type of basket to suit your needs. From traditional to modern, neutral to colorful, dipped-died to hand-painted, there are plenty of options to match your space and desired functionality.
Speaking of functionality, I love the way baskets were used in the home office pictured below. Filled with craft supplies, papers, and other unsightly collections, the baskets are both useful and beautiful accessories. These highly textured baskets also add so much texture and movement to the space. Varying textures is key when decorating and baskets are a great way to incorporate tactile and visual interest. Plus, who doesn’t love to be able to stash away clutter when company is coming. I’m guilty!
I searched the BHG Shop and found some amazing baskets. As you can see, the options are really endless.
What other fun ideas do you have for using baskets in your home?

TREND: Beach Style
While some trends come and go, others are here to stay. Beach style and nautical influences have been a staple in home decor for quite some time. I’m really in love with today’s beach-inspired looks becasue they are influenced by color, pattern, and texture rather than more literal elements such as a generic picture of a boat or buoys on a string.
I fell in love with this particular “Pin it” inspiration not only for its bold color, but for its collected feel. This space tells a story. What treasures did the vintage trunks hold before becoming side tables? Where were the seashells collected?
I often dream of owning a beach house and some day when I do, I hope the whole space feels like this. A little vintage, a touch of modern, and a feeling of casual comfort. Today I put together a collection of some of my favorite beach-inspired accessories. They are full of color, pattern, and texture to create an easy, breezy space. You’ll instantly feel like you’re on vacation without having to leave the comfort of your home. I could certainly handle that.

TREND: Bold Color
I can’t tell you how excited I am to see bright and bold colors popping up everywhere in the design world. Whether a bright yellow table lamp, chevron blue rug, or green painted table – color is back in a big way. Being a color lover, I’m injecting as much as I can throughout my home. Color brightens a space and gives it character. Color also makes your home feel welcoming and comfortable. And I don’t know about you, but that’s the feeling I want my home to have.
One of my all-time favorite colors is bright green, whether it’s chartreuse, lime, apple, or some other shade. Experts say that green symbolizes life, nature, and well-being. Green is also considered a safe color. If you’re debating about what color to use in a particular area, go with green. I’m guessing that I’m attracted to it for its cheerfulness. It has a way of instantly bringing vitality to any space. I think this is why plants play such an important role in decorating. Their verdant leaves complement almost any decor and add a fresh, lively touch.
As you can imagine, I fell in love with the picture above because of that bright green weathered table. It’s just the thing to bring the white bathroom to life.
My fondness for bright green and bold colors inspired me to put together a collection of some of my favorite green furnishings and accessories. These unique and colorful pieces will instantly add life and pizzazz to your home. Let’s embrace bold color together and welcome it into our spaces.
And I’m dying to know, what’s your favorite color to incorporate into your home?
