TREND: Dazzling Blue, the next big Pantone color for spring

Get ready to see a whole lot of blue. “Dazzling Blue”, to be exact. According to Pantone, the color experts, the hue will be popping up pretty heavily in women’s fashion for spring. Why limit it to the wardrobe though? The living room above uses the color spectacularly, using the contrast of bright yellow to further pop the intensity of that blue.

TREND: Bright pops of color and strong graphic patterns

Getting ready each day in this bathroom would probably put you in a pretty cheerful mood! The shell of the room is neutral — white subway tiles, the palest gray paint on the walls — but the impact comes from the bright yellow furniture and accessories. The bold patterned polka dot shower curtain is a whole lot of fun too. Notice the belt as a tie-back?

TREND: Black accents in the kitchen

The architecture alone in the kitchen above is gorgeous, with its vaulted ceiling and wooden beams. The kitchen cabinets and marble backsplash are beautiful as well. Beyond the shell though, the room stands out with its use of black accents. The trend of painting either the lower cabinet or kitchen island is such a good one — I hope it sticks around for a good long while!

TREND: Traditional patterns get an update with a change of color and scale.

Patterns like damask and paisley can be hard to work with if your taste runs more toward modern than traditional. Update the color palette and scale it up though, and you’ve got a fresh new take on the classics! This paisley wallpapered bedroom was done with just black, white, and a couple shots of lime green for impact. Bam!

Less stark than a monochrome white look, and more subdued than an all-out color explosion, the dining room above is a perfect way to incorporate color in a modern way.
