For the Love of Color: Copper

TREND: Copper

If you’ve been following my posts here on Style Spotters for a while (or on my blog Inspired by Charm), then you probably know I have a slight obsession with all things gold. As I’ve begun to get my home ready for fall, I’ve noticed how many gold and brass accents I have. Even though I still love them, I’m always up for trying something different, such as copper.

Over the past year, copper has been gaining in popularity. This fall, however, copper has come out in a big way in everything from light fixtures to flatware to pillows. While this metal is a kitchen classic, as seen in the glimmering pots above, new furnishings and accessories have given us reasons to incorporate copper into other areas of our home as well.

With its warm orange and pink undertones, I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot more copper pop up this fall and holiday season. What do you think? Have you always been a fan of copper? Do you plan to add a few copper pieces to your home decor?

For the Love of Color: Mint Green

Today is all about mint green. I was so inspired when I saw this bedroom with bright mint walls that I began searching for everything mint green. I’m not a stranger to the color. I have a feature wall in my office / living room that is painted a shade of mint. Something about the color instantly calms me. I’m pretty sure everyone can benefit from a splash of it here and there.

What I also love about mint green is that while it’s certainly trending now, in some ways, it’s a classic. It has come back time and time again. Remember the mint green kitchen items of the 1950s?

In case you’re hesitant to wrap a room in mint, I have found some fun accessories that will allow you to try the color in smaller doses. From chairs to sumo wrestler statues (Yes, I went there.), you’ll be loving this soothing hue in no time.

From My Home To Yours: Chandeliers

When it comes to decorating or redesigning a room in my house, one of my favorite things to choose for the space is the ceiling light. From chandeliers to pendants, I’m constantly searching for gorgeous light fixtures. Each season all of my favorite stores seem to come out with new fixtures, and they are one of the first things I check out when a new line is launched.

I decided to focus on light fixtures today because I’m on the hunt for a fabulous new chandelier for my master bedroom. I’m working on a little redesign project and need the perfect piece to make the room come together. In my opinion, a light fixture can really make or break a space.

After finding lots of beautiful fixtures for other rooms in my home, the pressure is on to come up with something equally wonderful for my bedroom. Here are some of my current favorites. And, if you’re following along with my bedroom makeover, you may just see one of these fixtures show up in my space.

Which of these chandeliers do you love the most? What’s your favorite home decor item to shop for?

From My Home To Yours: Coffee Tables

If I could pull it off, I would probably have a coffee table in every room of my house. Not only are there many unique coffee tables on the market today, but styling coffee tables is just so much fun. It’s almost as if they are little display tables for showing off your favorite books, fun accessories, and one-of-a-kind finds.

I’m finally settling in to my own space, and over the past year I’ve purchased two coffee tables. It’s been a treat to rearrange them for the seasons, adorning them with things I love.

Since there are so many fabulous coffee tables available, I thought I’d share a few of my new favorites with you. From modern to traditional, wood to upholstered, you’re sure to find a coffee table to suit your space. Then you can start styling it with all of your beautiful treasures.

Let me know in the comments which type of coffee table you’re loving these days. Also, what fun accessories grace your coffee tables?

For the Love of Color: Purple

Right now I’m in the process of giving my bedroom a little makeover. Currently, it has a primary color palette of red, blue, and yellow with a bit of a country feel. Over the past year my tastes have changed and grown, so it’s time for something different. I plan to make the space a bit more modern, move some furniture around, and switch up the color scheme.

You’re probably wondering what all of this has to do with purple. Well, the plan for the new space focuses on jewel tones – rich magenta, deep purple, emerald green, and so on. I’m picturing a very clean, crisp space with pops of these deep saturated colors. As a result, my eyes have been drawn to these colors a lot lately.

I especially love this kitchen and the punch of purple on the accent wall. It really brings the space alive and demands attention. It’s fun to infuse color in a space, and this is such a fabulous way to do it. I also love how the other colors in the accessories work with the wall color.

Inspired by this kitchen space and my new bedroom, I thought I’d browse in some of my favorite stores and find pieces that would bring a pop of purple into your space. Once, I complete my little bedroom makeover, I’ll be back to share a few more ideas for working purple and other jewel tones into your decor.

As always, happy decorating!

From My Home to Yours: Plates

I’m not sure why, but I have the hardest time deciding what to put on the walls of my home. So much so, that it took me over a year to complete the gallery wall in my hallway. Last year I painted my office / living room, and there are still several blank walls in that space. I’m not sure where my hesitation comes from. Maybe it’s about putting holes in a freshly painted wall or spending the money and time trying to find the perfect piece, I just don’t know. However, I am trying to get past these fears and get some things on my walls.

Despite my lack of motivation to tackle certain walls in my home, my dining room is a different story. My dining room was one of the first rooms I painted when I bought my home (however now it’s a different color), and my collection of plates was one of the first things I ever hung. I still love it. Even though design trends come and go, a collection of plates artfully hung on a wall never seems to get old.

That’s why today I’m sharing my favorite plate finds with you. Whether you’re buying new or vintage, plates are a great way to add color, pattern, and style to your home. Mix them up, have fun, and show off your style with this timeless wall decor idea.

Oh, and while you’re at it, pick up some of these adhesive discs. They are an excellent way to hang plates.

Do you have a collection of plates hung anywhere on your walls?
