From My Home To Your: Holiday Wreaths

It’s hard to believe that the holidays upon us. In just a few days, we will be celebrating Thanksgiving with friends and family. Once the turkey settles, thoughts will quickly switch over to Christmas. With less than a month between each holiday, I’ve already started planning a few of my holiday decorations. Last year I created this DIY Rainbow Wreath for my front door using an faux evergreen wreath and glass ornaments. I can’t wait to get this colorful gem back on my front door.

However, I have a few other entry doors and spaces around my home that are in need of a festive touch. Wreaths are a quick and easy way to add festive color and instant holiday cheer. With so many varieties available, you can find several options to match your current decor or have a little courage and try something completely new.

To lend a helping hand, I’ve gathered twelve of my favorite holidays wreaths. From modern to traditional, one of these is certain to beautifully adorn your door and welcome your friends and family into your home.

From My Home To Yours: Acrylic

Over the past couple years, I’ve embraced a new style in my home by incorporating more contemporary elements. Even though meshing the new with the old is challenging at times, overall it’s been it’s been a fun process. Plus, I’m loving the results.

One easy way I’ve found to add a more modern feel is with acrylic furnishings. Because of its new-found popularity, there is a huge array of items in this style. From chairs and tables to accessories like lamps and tape dispensers, you can incorporate acrylics into any room.

I’ve used a console table in my entryway. Because most acrylic furnishings are clear, they don’t take up much visual space, but can still be super functional.

I also recently added a ghost chair to my guest room. Its traditional lines work well in my 1916 home, and the acrylic adds a contemporary air. The perfect combination!

To inspire you to add a bit of this style to your home, I’ve gathered a few of my favorite pieces. I especially love how some of the items are paired with gold and brass!

Check the collection out and then use the comments to let us know your opinion of acrylic. Have you incorporated this material in your home? What do you think of this new trend?

From My Home to Yours: Table Lamps

As I’ve mentioned here on Style Spotters, I have a slight obsession with light fixtures. In the past, I’ve shared my favorite chandeliers, so today I thought it would be fun to show you my latest table lamp finds.

Lighting is such an important element when decorating. Whether it’s a table lamp, wall sconce, or ceiling fixture, what you choose for illumination can go a long way in adding the polish and sparkle that make a space come together. I like to think of lighting as the jewelry in a room. As with other home accessories, I’m always on the hunt for unique and beautiful fixtures that will stand the test of time.

One of my favorite lamps currently resides in my living room. I went with the bold choice of teal on teal. With my neutral walls, it’s the perfect pop of color in my space. My rule of thumb is to go with pieces that you love, and they will eventually make their way to the perfect spot in your home.

Since, my home is well outfitted with table lamps, I thought I’d just do some Internet browsing today and share what I found. Enjoy!

Do you like picking out lighting as much as I do? What table lamps are you loving these days?

For the Love of Color: Black

Today I’m mashing up both of my Style Spotters series; For the Love of Color meets From My Home to Yours! Last week on my blog, I created a stylish fall mantel. I challenged myself to create something that was spooky and fitting for Halloween while still stylish and chic. It was also important that my festive spooky decor matched the rest of my space as well. Thus was born this Halloween mantel.

When I’m styling a space, one of the things that I always think of first is the color scheme.  I think that is why color is such a big part of what I do. For this particular vignette, black was an important element. Paired with just a few of the right accessories, black is a perfect color to create a haunted look. I also love that black is a neutral color. While a lot of these items take on a spooky look when grouped together, alone they can be really dynamic pieces for your everyday decor.

From My Home To Your: Fall Home Decor Accessories

Over the past couple weeks, I’ve been busy switching things around in my home to welcome autumn. I love the change of seasons as it always gives me an excuse to reassess my spaces, see how things are looking and functioning, and tweak details not only for the season, but to make my home more visually satisfying and user friendly. To me, a room is never complete. I spend a lot of time in my home, so I’m always adjusting and moving things around to achieve an even more beautiful look.

Last week on my blog, I shared a lot of these changes in my Fall Home Tour. While I didn’t add a great deal of “fall decor,” I pulled in plenty of natural elements, shiny metallics, and warm colors to dress my space for the season. I’ve shared resources on my blog for some of my accessories, and I thought it would be fun to do the same thing here on Style Spotters.

As you can see below, I’ve gathered together several key pieces that really helped my space come alive this season. In addition to products, I included a few DIY projects. Part of seasonal decorating is about using the things you already have in a different way – tucking fall leaves in your favorite vase, painting something a different color, etc.

For the Love of Color: Burnt Orange

As much as I dread the shorter days and cooler temperatures, one of my favorite things about fall is the changing colors of the landscape. Here in the mountains of Central PA, we have exquisite color shows when the leaves begin to turn. While it doesn’t last long, it sure is magical.

This past weekend I started adding fall colors to my own home. Red, purples, golds, and oranges instantly remind me of the season. While I love traditional country fall decor, I like to be a bit more subtle in my own space. Just by changing around a few accessories and textures, a room can instantly have a cozier feeling.

Today, inspired by the image above, I’m sharing a few of my favorite burnt orange accessories. Several of these pieces tucked around in your space (and some fresh pumpkins for good measure) will have your home looking “fallified” in no time.
