10 Gorgeous Modern Wreaths To Fall For
Who doesn’t love a good wreath, especially this time of year? Traditionally, holiday wreaths are full and round, but lately I am seeing a trend towards minimalism. I am loving this modern take on a classic Christmas symbol. It highlights beautiful greens, fresh shapes, and fluidity with other blended species. Who knew creating different shapes and compositions could look so good on a wreath?
How many times have you passed up embroidery hoops for mere pennies at a yard sale? Too many times to count! There are so many things you can make with them, including a wreath. Take a look at these swoonworthy modern wreaths using a simple embroidery hoop:
The fun part about a modern wreath is there is a great deal of creative freedom. You can use eucalyptus, rosemary, boxwood, pine, juniper, and even a mix of your favorite seasonal flowers. Creating a wreath that circles an embroidery hoop is an option, as is an asymmetrical display, or just line the bottom edge with evergreens.
Using a hanger for a wreath: what a fabulous idea! The one below is a DIY in copper; I love how it doesn’t complete the circle and that it combines eucalyptus, cotton, and baby’s-breath.
A wire circle can also become a wreath. Combining the textures of leather, metal, and simple-seeded eucalyptus along the bottom creates an aesthetically pleasing look.
Layering an assortment of greenery asymmetrically just works, doesn’t it?
If you don’t have an embroidery hoop or a metal circle, how about just plain rope? These mini eucalyptus wreaths were made with jute. I love the minimal look of these gift-card holders; so clever!
Let’s get really basic. If you don’t have any of these items in your home, use sticks or branches. And why not try a different shape, say a triangle?
When in doubt, you can always start with a twig wreath base and layer your fresh clippings along the bottom or to one side.
I hope this post inspired you to think outside of the box when it comes to holiday wreaths.
Have a beautiful day!
