Trend: 10 Fantastic Patio Makeovers

My husband and I are prepping to tear down our terribly ugly (and sort of already falling down) detached garage real soon, so it got us thinking about all the things we can do with the extra space we will have in our tiny backyard! We definitely need a patio to entertain and host dinners in the summer, but will we do pavers or lay down some concrete? Maybe stones with pebbles filling in the cracks? Should we just go with grass? What about a covered area since it rains 9 months of the year in Portland? So many decisions to make and that’s what this weeks DIY inspiration is all about. Take that boring patio from blah to wow! Check out the inspiration below to get started on your own patio transformation.

  1. Yes desperately. I have a 15 and 12 yr old boys. I want to create an area we can enjoy with the boys and their friends but I can’t get my husband to see the light.

  2. I love looking at these make overs and have found many useful ideas generated from them. My only complaint is that the before and after photos are often taken at different angles. As a result, brick walls and different building parts show up in the after pictures making it hard to really Ppreciate the do-over. I find it quite annoying.

  3. my yard is ok but not ok, 2 drives that wash since downpours are frequent, several levels that need help holding the dirt in. my patio area is the worst, just a few of the issues and wants, can deal with the needs.

  4. Really beautiful

  5. What happened to the windows in #7? And #9 doesn’t even look like the same house!!! If you are going to show “makeovers” show the same angle- you’re not fooling anyone.

  6. I have the most ugly old deck and a newer deck that join together. one side is covered and had ugly old lattice that is falling off. the larger deck is to full sin.. I’m mostly concerned with the covered area.. My daughter graduates Next May of 16. So, looking for expert help. I’m taking out the lattice, ( because it’s falling off) I have the screen too put up. but I am disabled. My neck was broken by domestic abuse. So, I’m not too handy..Anyway.. between the worst deck I have an equally fuggly Galley style, with mismatch cabinets.. I need Help.. I want to begin my new career as a life coach for Domestic Abuse. now I can work from home.. Thanks for your time..
