DIY-ify: A Gold Letter Garland

Have you seen that beautiful “cheers banner” that has been floating around Pinterest?  Apparently it’s no longer available, but I thought it was worth a shot to re-create it because it’s just so lovely, and it would be a great addition to any room or any party, regardless of the season. It’s also a great way to use some of that cardboard that is inevitably laying around this time of year!christmas garland

(Sequin Bows, Star Garland, Hourglasses)

Here is a list of the items you will need:(1) Cardboard; (2) Yarn or String; (3) Marker; (4) Gold Contact Paper (I used gold vinyl, but contact paper will be similar); (5) Washi Tape; (6) Heavy Duty Shears or Utility Knife; (7) Acrylic Paint; (8) Paintbrush; (9) Gold Fringe Garland (I used some shredded mylar, because the store was out of the garland, but the garland would be much easier to work with!)

Here is what you need to do:diy christmas garlandIt would also be really sweet with your baby’s name on it, and strung up on the wall in a nursery!  It’s a festive update to the name bunting, don’t you think?  Or perhaps for a birthday party?  We’ll be using it for a little family New Year’s celebration.DIY Christmas Garland

Hope you enjoy!  ~Joni, Lay Baby Lay
