TREND: Black accents in the kitchen

The architecture alone in the kitchen above is gorgeous, with its vaulted ceiling and wooden beams. The kitchen cabinets and marble backsplash are beautiful as well. Beyond the shell though, the room stands out with its use of black accents. The trend of painting either the lower cabinet or kitchen island is such a good one — I hope it sticks around for a good long while!

  2. I actually really hate the cabinets being two different colors, haha. I’m just obsessively matchy-matchy like that; I feel like it looks as if they were pulled from two different kitchens when they’re different. But I do like, say, painting the interiors black.

We’re actually thinking of doing all our kitchen walls in glossy black to try to pull in the granite counters and black-and-stainless appliances a bit better. It’s kind of a dark moody kitchen anyway and I can’t seem to make it feel light and airy no matter how I try. Time to test out Kitchen Noir!

  3. What are the paint colors for wall, trim and cabinets? Can not seem to find anywhere. Love the look…

  4. I love love black and white kitchens, my kitchen has been black and white for years white cabinets and walls with black granite counters and black appliances. Finding a black and white striped rug is the hardest thing as even this Crate & Barrel rug shown is actually black and beige in person but I keep looking.

  5. What is the wall color?

  6. Virginia, I love the look of different cabinets. I think when everything looks like it came from the same place, whether in furniture or cabinetry, they look sterile and uninviting. I feel comfortable with different things in the room as long as they “speak” to the style of the room. Just goes to prove that there are a lot of different tastes out there. I love experiencing all of them and pulling from the best. I would love to see how your idea turns out. Good luck with the changes.
