Editor’s Picks from the May Innovation Issue

Hi there! Kenzie Kramer, Social Media Assistant for BHG here. Our second-annual Innovation Issue is full of smart new products and helpful mobile apps, so I thought I’d share a handful of the featured items here on Style Spotters:

I love how you can turn your favorite images from the digital world into customized accessories with Printstagram! Using pictures from your Instagram account you can create stickers, memory boxes, picture-a-day calendars, and even large posters to decorate with.

Don’t let its size fool you! This miniature Matrix Audio Qube Universal Pocket Speaker is loud enough to fill a room with your favorite tunes for up to eight hours. This golf ball-size speaker is also capable of wireless streaming and is rechargeable so there’s no need to fuss with batteries.

With the help of Evernote Premium, this Moleskin Evernote Smart Notebook turns your notes and sketches into easily accessible digital copies that you can reach on a smartphone, tablet, or computer. The app also makes the pages searchable and shareable online.

This light-sensitive Inkodye Tricolor Kit is perfect for making your own original patterns for decor, clothes, or accessories. The permanent dyes react to sunlight to create custom designs and can be used on most fabrics including cotton, linen, silk and even suede.

This smart and stylish Nest thermostat learns what temperatures you like at different times of the day and adapts to your preferences automatically. It can also be connected to wifi and controlled remotely from a smartphone, tablet, or computer.

Perfect for the constant decorator, this decorative Tempaper adheres by itself (no sticky glue necessary!) and comes off like contact paper. Add it to a dresser or the back of a shelf for a quick and easy update!

Secure your online presence and credit card information with the help of 1Password. The app, available on computers, smartphones, and tablets, creates strong passwords and saves them for you automatically. 1Password can also keep track of your credit card information to simplify online shopping.

  1. I would love to have a nest! It looks great and learns your preferences. I don’t think hubby will let me get one though.

  3. So many cool suggestions for organizing and design.

I want those tempaper designs. I have some new cabinets ready for make over.

I love those printstagram design for my coffee table.

  4. I’m relieved that I’ve had the opportunity to come across
bhg.com: it has the most info necessary for me. It’s extremely useful
and you’re clearly really well-informed in this field.
Thanks to your wealth of information, I’ve discovered a whole lot more about the subject and will be coming back for more.

  5. Love the tempaper on the dresser. Would love to try this on some projects. By the way, how do some of the bloggers end up in BHG magazines or special feature issues? People come to my home all the time and mention that mine looks as good as many of the bloggers. What about featuring an obscure little ole blogger’s 1956 ranch home turned cottage chic?
