Embracing Spring’s Hues
Hi there – !
My name is Eliza, and I’m the founder of the houseplant-happy company The Sill — the destination for discovering potted plants that enhance both quality of life and the look and feel of your environment. Along with Erin, our social media manager, and Lisa, our plant & botanist expert, we hunt down houseplants suitable for city dwellings, and this season we’re loving a wide range of fresh spring hues to pot ‘em in!
Pantone refers to this Spring’s hues as “the balancing act” and we couldn’t agree more. Spring shades — of bright citrus, oceanic hues, and classic neutrals — address our desire to re-energize & excite yet maintain the serenity and calm we’re craving after a long winter. Combinations of these colors offer practically and versatility, yet simultaneously demand attention and appreciative glances. Think novel neutrals and dynamic brights.
And according to Pantone, “the prevalence of green this spring is undeniable… Similar to the many shades in our natural surroundings, this season’s greens offer a stunning foreground or the perfect backdrop for all other hues.” So this Spring, for home and closet, green will be our new neutral (or was it always?), along with the tried and true classic linen, and we plan to accent with shades of citrus and oceanic hues.
Get inspired to incorporate these hues into your own environment below!
Inspired by these shades and Spring in New York City, we created the Spring Collection - a set of six hand-potted miniature easy-care succulents tucked inside hand-painted terra cotta in strong pastels that pop” classic cream, tangerine, lemon zest, turquoise, margarita & manaco blue. Think white-on-white-on-bronzed (skin), barefoot frolicking on the great lawn, fresh juicy fruit and cold italian ice, yellow cabbies and bright blue skies, printed sundresses and exposed toes, cocktails & mocktails… oh my.
Loving these fresh spring hues, too? We’d love to hear how! Comment below & tell us how these colors have popped up in your home. We hope we’ve inspired you to bring the outdoors in with modern houseplants, colorful pots, and springy home accessories.
Happy spring! -Eliza of The Sill
