1. Eligibility:
You must be 18 years of age or older and a legal resident of
the U.S.; however, residents of AZ, CO, CT, MD, ND, TN, VT and
Puerto Rico need not pay the $3.00 postage and handling fee
and may not participate in the Cosponsor Competitions. Employees
of Meredith Corporation, The Home Depot, Dodge and Broyhill
(Sponsors) and all applicable Cosponsors, their
respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, suppliers,
advertising agencies, and their families, and persons living
in the same household as such employees, are not eligible to
participate. Void where prohibited by law. 2.
How to Enter: Contest begins on January 13, 2004
and ends on November 4, 2004. The entry process requires two
steps,
registration and entry. First, you must register to receive
an entry packet. You may register by calling 1-866-509-1690
or by writing to 2004 Better Home Better Living Contest Registration,
P.O. Box 35546, Des Moines, IA 50315-0305, or online at www.bhg.com/bhblcontest04.
Contestants who register by 800 number or postal mail must
pay $3.00 for the postage and handling of entry packet. You
may download the registration packet for free from our website.
Second, once you receive entry packet, you must choose which
Category of Competition in which you wish to participate,
fill out the requested information and mail to Better Homes
and Gardens 2004 Better Home Better Living Contest, P.O. Box
7050, Des Moines, IA, 50309-7050.
Entry must include photos of project (up to 10 photos, no
Polaroids or digital files, please), list the objectives,
floor plan, if applicable. If you are participating in any
Cosponsor categories, you must include receipt of purchase
of the applicable Cosponsor product in envelope provided.
Projects may be do-it-yourself or those completed by professional
contractors/designers/architects on your behalf. You must
reside in the home depicted in project. Each project may be
entered by only one person. Projects must be completed in
2004. You may enter more than one project in the contest,
but not the same project in two different categories, except
for Cosponsor categories. You may enter more than one Better
Home Better Living category, but you must fill out a separate
entry form for each category entered. The project submitted
cannot have been previously published or photographed by,
or committed to publication, in any other magazine or medium.
3. Deadlines:
The Contest begins on January 13, 2004. All registrations
for entry forms must be received by October 22, 2004 regardless
of method of registration. All completed entry forms must
be received by November 4, 2004. Entrants must use the Official
Entry Form, but may make photocopies of the form. If you register
or enter by postal mail, please allow sufficient time in advance
of these dates to ensure compliance with these deadlines.
All registrations or entries not received by these dates will
not be eligible to compete.
4. Categories of Competition:
A. Better Home Better Living
Competition: There are twenty categories of competition in
the Better Home Better Living contest. These are: Best Use
of Color Indoors; Best Use of Color Outdoors; Best Special
Occasion Table; Best Entertaining Space Indoors; Best Entertaining
Space Outdoors; Best Kitchen; Best Bathroom; Best Remodeling;
Best Family Party; Best Family Garden; Best Indoor Before
and After; Best Outdoor Before and After; Best Kids
Play Space; Best Weekend Project; Best Update under $5,000;
Best Do-It-Yourself Project; Best Work or Hobby Space; Best
Home Retreat; Best Home Entertainment Space; Best New Home.

B. Cosponsor Competition: Contestants
may wish to compete in Cosponsor
categories by checking the applicable Cosponsor category on
the entry form. To be eligible to compete in the Cosponsor
competitions, you must have purchased the applicable Cosponsor
product in 2004 and submit a cash register receipt as proof
of purchase. Residents of AZ, CO, CT, MD, ND, TN, VT and Puerto

5. Judging:
A. Better Home Better Living
Categories:
There are two levels of judging. In the first level, all entries
in each Better Home Better Living category will be judged
under the supervision of Better Homes and Gardens magazine
using the following criteria: aesthetics/appearance, creativity
of ideas, function, use of materials and whether the submission
is appropriate for the category entered. In the second level
of judging, the Top 20 entries in each category will then
be re-evaluated by experts in the area of competition using
the same criteria as listed above. The top scoring entry in
each Category will be the winner. If a tie occurs, the highest
score in the aesthetics/appearance criterion will determine
winner.
B. Cosponsor Categories: There
are two levels of judging. All entries in each Cosponsor category
will be judged under the supervision of Meredith Corporation
using the following criteria: aesthetics/appearance, creativity
of ideas, function and best use of Cosponsors materials.
The Top 10 entries of each Cosponsor category will then be
judged under the direction of the applicable Cosponsor who
will apply the same criteria as above. The top scoring entry
in each Cosponsor category will be the applicable winner.
If a tie occurs, the highest score in best use of Cosponsors
materials criterion will break tie.
C. Grand Prize Winner and Runner
Up Winner: All winners of the Better Home Better Living Categories
will compete for Grand Prize and Runner Up prize. A panel
of 5 experts under the direction of the Editor-in-Chief of
Better Homes and Gardens magazine will judge the twenty Category
winners and top scoring entry will be Grand Prize winner.
The panel will include one interior design expert, one gardening
and outdoor living expert, one architecture expert, one entertaining
expert and one family life expert. The second top scoring
winner will be Runner Up winner. If a tie occurs, the highest
score in aesthetics/appearance criterion will be deemed winner.
Decisions of all judges are final and binding. All Winners
will be chosen on or about May 20, 2005. Winners will be notified
by mail. Winners will be required to sign an Affidavit of
Eligibility, Copyright Assignment and Release of Liability
within 10 days of notification or next highest scoring entry
will be determined winner. By accepting prize, winners agree
that all rights, including copyright, in all entry materials,
are assigned to Sponsors.
6. Prizes:
A. Grand Prize: One (1) Grand
Prize winner will receive $25,000 cash and an all-new 2004
Dodge
Durango Limited 4x4 with 5.7L HEMI Magnum V8. Taxes, license,
insurance, title, registration fees, freight, additional equipment
and all other incidental expenses associated with the receipt
of the Grand Prize vehicle are solely the winners responsibility.
Winner must submit proof of valid drivers license and
proof of liability insurance prior to receiving title to the
Grand Prize vehicle. Vehicle prize will be delivered to a
local Dodge Dealer near winners residence and winner
will be responsible for picking up vehicle from dealer within
four (4) weeks of notification. Approximate retail value of
the Grand Prize Vehicle is $35,000. The Grand Prize vehicle
may be different from the vehicle used in promotional events.
The interior and exterior color of the prize vehicle will
be subject to availability. All additional car options will
be the responsibility of the winner.
B. Runner Up Prize: One (1)
Runner Up winner will receive $5,000 cash and winners
choice of furniture from Broyhill,
with an approximate retail value of $25,000.
C. Better Home Better Living
Category Prizes: Each winner of a Better Home Better Living
Category will receive $1,000.
D. Cosponsor Categories: Each
Cosponsor Category winner will receive $1,000.

7. General Conditions:
By participating in this Contest and submitting an entry,
entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the
decision of the judges and acknowledge compliance with these
Official Rules including all eligibility requirements. By
entering, winners agree to waive any and all claims against
the Sponsors, their affiliates, employees, agents, and representatives
for personal injury or loss that may occur from the participation
in this contest or from the receipt or use of any prize, and
grant to Sponsors the right to publicize such winners
name and/or likeness and their winning project without additional
compensation or consideration unless prohibited by law. Sponsors,
their affiliates, employees, agents and representatives are
not responsible for printing or typographical errors in any
Contest-related materials; stolen, late, lost, garbled, delayed,
misdirected, damaged, incomplete, postage due or illegible
entries. Sponsors, their affiliates, employees, agents and
representatives, or any telephone network or internet service
providers are not responsible for incorrect, inaccurate transcription
or loss of entry information for any reason whatsoever. If,
in the Sponsors exclusive judgment, this promotion becomes
compromised in any way, Sponsors reserve the right to withdraw
the promotion offer, cancel any method of entry, to void any
entries submitted fraudulently or select winners from all
eligible entries received prior to act that compromised the
promotion. Any attempt to deliberately damage the content
or operation of this sweepstakes is unlawful and subject to
legal action by the Sponsor or its agents. In the event of
dispute, electronic entries will be deemed to have been submitted
by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address at
the time of the sweepstakes. The authorized account holder
is the person to whom the applicable internet service provider
or other organization (such as business or educational institution)
has assigned the e-mail address. The judges reserve the right
to verify eligibility qualifications of winners and to disqualify
any individual they find acting in violation of the Official
Rules.
8. Use of Entry Materials:
Entries and entry materials become the property of Sponsors
and will not be returned. Submission of entry constitutes
permission to use winners name, entry, hometown, likeness,
and information regarding entrant, his/her family, and property
by Sponsors and Cosponsors in promotion of the contest, unless
prohibited by law.
9. Taxes: Contest
is subject to all U.S. federal, state and local laws and regulations.
All liability for federal, state and other taxes are the sole
responsibility of each winner.
