Also include a typed or legibly written essay of 200-250 words why your nominee is the “Least Handy”, a project that you’d love for your nominee to learn and a picture (any size, black/white or color) of your nominee in action on a home improvement project. Or, enter online at www.bhg.com/leasthandy by including the entry information described above. Entries must be original, not previously published or have won any other award and must describe a home improvement project and the nominee’s effort associated with that project. Contest begins March 15, 2003 and ends April 30, 2003. Mail-in entries must be postmarked by April 30, 2003, and received by May 7, 2003. Online entries must be received by 11:59 pm, ET, April 30, 2003.  Sponsor assumes no responsibility for entries they are unable to process due to network, hardware or other technical failures; or incomplete, damaged, misdirected, illegible or lost mail or e-mail entries. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel contest if it becomes technically corrupted or because of non-authorized human intervention. In the event of cancellation, Sponsor reserves the right to award the prizes to eligible, non-suspect entries received prior to date of cancellation. The use of automated entry devices or any other conduct which impedes the integrity of the contest is prohibited. In the event of a dispute, entry will be deemed made by the holder of an established e-mail account associated with the entry. Submitter of entry and his/her nominee must reside in same household. Open to legal U.S. and Canadian residents (except residents of Quebec) who are 18 years of age or older, except employees of Sponsor, The Home Depot, their agents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and members of their immediate families or persons residing in the same household. Judging: Entries will be judged by a panel of judges from The Home Depot book editorial team judged on the following criteria: writing style (20%), creativity (20%), humor (20%), effort of nominee to complete project (20%), and ability to convey theme of contest (20%). In the event of a tie, scores for effort of the nominee to complete the project and ability to convey the theme of the contest will be used as the tie-breaking criteria.

Entries will be judged on or about May 9, 2003 and the eleven (11) top rated entries will be eligible for the final judging round to be held on or about May 16,2003. Final Round of Judging: The submitters of the 11 top rated entries and their respective nominees will be contacted by telephone on or about May 16 and scheduled for a telephone interview. During the week of May 19-23, 2003, the judging panel will conduct a phone interview of the submitter and their respective nominee (simultaneously). Interviews will discuss the entries and will be factored into the judging. Based upon the criteria listed, the judges will choose the Grand Prize entry. The submitter and the nominee of the Grand Prize entry will be notified by telephone on or about May 23, 2003. Decisions of judges are final and binding in all respects.
 
 Prizes: One (1) Grand Prize to be awarded to the submitter of the entry and his/her nominee will consist of a $1,000 Home Depot gift card, the 1-2-3™ book library set (with an Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”) of $500), and a 5 day/4 night trip for the submitter and nominee to New York City June 11-June 15, 2003. Trip includes round-trip coach airfare for 2 from major gateway near winners’ residence (to be determined by Sponsors in their sole discretion), 4 nights’ hotel accommodations (1 room), ground transportation to/from airport/hotel and $ 500 spending cash. Winners must travel together and share accommodations. Winners may also have an opportunity to appear on a national daytime television program or be featured in other national or local media. All other expenses not listed are the responsibility of the winners. (ARV of trip $3,000) Total ARV of Grand Prize: $4500. Ten (10) runner-up prizes will be awarded. The submitter and his/her nominee of the entry will share the 1-2-3™ book library set (ARV of $500) and may also have the opportunity to be featured in national or local media. No prize transfer, substitution or cash in lieu of prize is permitted. In the event media appearances are cancelled, winners will not receive additional compensation or other prizes in lieu of media appearance. All entry materials, including all essays and photographs submitted in connection with your entry (hereinafter the “Entry Materials”), become the property of the Sponsor and will not be returned. By entering, you hereby agree that Sponsor and The Home Depot shall have the right to copy, edit, adapt, publish, distribute and use the Entry Materials, in whole or in part, in any media worldwide without any compensation to you. By entering, you further agree to assign and transfer to the Sponsor all right, title and interest in the Entry Materials, and represent and warrant that the Entry Materials are your own original work, are not offensive or defamatory, and will not violate the rights of any third parties, including but not limited to any copyrights, trademarks, trade dress, and any rights of publicity and/or privacy. Entry constitutes permission to use the winners’ Entry Materials, name, hometown, voice, likeness, photograph, and any statements regarding this contest for editorial, public relations, promotional and advertising purposes on behalf of Sponsor and The Home Depot without compensation, unless prohibited by law. Winners agree to complete an Affidavit of Eligibility/Ownership, Release of Liability/Publicity and Copyright Assignment within 10 days of notification or an alternate winner will be selected. By participating in the Contest, you agree to release and hold the Sponsor, The Home Depot, U.S.A., Inc., and each of their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, and each of their employees, officers, directors, shareholders, agents, advertising, promotion, fulfillment agencies and legal advisors harmless from any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind in connection with the Contest or resulting from acceptance, possession, or use/misuse of any prize, including without limitation, any loss, personal injury, death, property damage, and claims based on copyrights, moral rights, publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy. Any and all disputes shall be resolved individually without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by arbitration. Any claims, judgments or awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs involved in entering the Contest, but in no event attorneys’ fees. This contest is subject to all U. S. federal, state and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited. Taxes on prizes are the sole responsibility of the winners.
