Prize Tested Recipes: The Annual Challenge begins May 8, 2009, and ends August 18, 2009. Online entries must be received by 11:59 p.m., CT, on August 18, 2009. Mail entries must be postmarked on or before August 18, 2009, and received by August 26, 2009. Entries become the property of Meredith Corporation, 1716 Locust Street, Des Moines, IA 50309 ("Sponsor") and will not be acknowledged or returned.

ELIGIBILITY: Entrants must be legal U.S. residents (excluding Puerto Rico), 21 years of age or older at time of entry, except employees of Sponsor, and any other organizations affiliated with the sponsorship, fulfillment, administration, prize support, advertisement or promotion of the Challenge and/or their respective agents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and members of their immediate families or persons residing at the same address. CHALLENGE: The Challenge is comprised of six categories: Everyday Easy recipes, Grilling recipes, Holiday recipes, Desserts, Good & Healthy recipes, and Personal Favorites. Everyday Easy recipes must be prepared in 30 minutes or less and use no more than five (5) ingredients, plus basic ingredients normally found in your pantry, such as salt, pepper, olive oil, etc. The Personal Favorites category may include any recipe that does not fit in any of the other five categories. Recipes entered in the Good & Healthy category must limit the number of calories from fat to no more than 35 percent of total calories in the recipe, including saturated fat of no more than 7 percent of the total and trans fatty acids (trans fats) of no more than 1 percent of the total.

ENTRIES: For each category entered, create your original recipe. Multiple entries are allowed, but each recipe must be submitted as a separate entry and each entry must meet the following requirements:

• Write or type on each entry the category you wish to enter. Each recipe may only be submitted for judging in one category. Multiple entries may be submitted in the same envelope.
• Recipe entries must be original, and cannot have been previously published, won another competition or Challenge, or been used for advertising or promotional purposes.
• Entry must: (1) include recipe name and the number of servings that the recipe yields, (2) use ingredients that are available in most grocery stores; (3) list ingredients with measurements in order of use; (4) include step-by-step preparation and cooking directions, and (4) include: entrant name, and complete address with zip code, telephone number with area code and e-mail (optional). A photograph of the recipe can be submitted (optional), although inclusion of a photo will not affect the judging.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS: By entering the Challenge, entrants agree to assign their intellectual property rights to Sponsor and permit Sponsor to use the recipes in any media, including on the internet, for commercial, editorial, or any other purpose whatsoever. Entrants who do not agree to this use should not enter this Challenge.
WINNER SELECTION AND PRIZES: On or before October 19, 2009, the Better Homes and Gardens representatives will judge eligible entries based on creativity (30 percent), taste (40 percent), and practicality (30 percent). In the event of a tie, the entry with the highest score in the Taste criterion will be a winner. Decisions of judges are final and binding in all respects.

One (1) winner from each of the six categories will receive $2,500.00.

Three (3) winners who create a recipe in any of the six categories using Sun-Maid raisins, Lindsay Olives or Hidden Valley Ranch product as an ingredient will win a $2,500 prize from the respective partner brand (one (1) winner per brand). Entrants who submit a partner brand product recipe should include no more than one partner brand ingredient per recipe as follows: Sun-Maid-- 1/2 cup Sun-Maid raisins; Lindsey Olives-- 1/2 cup any Lindsay Olives product; Hidden Valley Ranch-- 1 package of any Hidden Valley Ranch dry seasoning, dressing/dip packet. Partner brand product recipe winners will be the recipe that represents the best overall usage of each partner?s ingredient/product. Additional sponsor prizes may be added after the Challenge begins, so please check the website often for updates. The winners of the partner brand prizes may not necessarily be one of the category winners or the grand prize winner in the Challenge.

One (1) grand prizewinner, selected from the six category winners, will receive a $22,500 check

Only one (1) category prize will be awarded per household. Potential winners will be notified on or about October 19, 2009. Prizes may not be assigned, transferred or changed, except at the sole discretion of Sponsor. Sponsor will determine all elements of prizing in its sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a Grand Prize (or portions thereof) of equal or greater value if Grand Prize (or portions thereof) cannot be awarded as described. The awarding of any prize is contingent upon full compliance with these Official Rules. Entrants agree to be bound by Official Rules and agree that if any winner fails to provide proof of identity, refuses to provide required affidavit, is found to have violated the Official Rules or otherwise does not meet eligibility criteria, prize will be forfeited and awarded to the entry with the next highest score. Entrants understand that Sponsor is not liable for injuries, losses or damages of any kind arising from participation in this promotion and acceptance, possession and use of prizes. Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the Challenge or in the announcement of the prize. Decisions of Sponsor are final and binding in all aspects. PRIVACY: Registration for Sponsor?s bhg.com website is required to enter the Sweepstakes. When you register, we collect personally identifying information about you, including your name, mailing address, and email address. The information that you provide will be added to a centralized Sponsor database so that you will simultaneously be registered for Sponsor?s other websites as well. By entering and providing the required registration information, you acknowledge that Sponsor may send you information, samples, or special offers it believes may be of interest to you about its publications or other complementary goods offered by Sponsor. Sponsor may also include your name and postal address in postal address lists that Sponsor sells or rents to third parties for marketing purposes. DISPUTE RESOLUTION: Except where prohibited, by participating Challenge entrants agree that: All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of participant(s) and Sponsor and its agents shall be governed by and construed exclusively in accordance with the laws of the State of New York without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law of any jurisdiction. Entrant agrees that any action at law or in equity arising out of or relating to this Challenge, or awarding of the prizes, shall be filed only in the state or federal courts located in the State of New York and entrant hereby consents and submits to the personal jurisdiction of such courts for the purposes of litigating any such action. Except where prohibited, by participating in this Challenge, entrant agrees that: (a) any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Challenge, or awarding of the prizes, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; and (b) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with participating in this Challenge but in no event attorneys' fees; and (c) under no circumstances will any participant be permitted to obtain awards for and hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitations or exclusion of liability for incidental or consequential damages, so the above may not apply to you.

OTHER: Sponsor assumes no responsibility for entries it is unable to process due to network, hardware or other technical failures; or any other reason, or incomplete, damaged, misdirected, illegible, stolen or lost entries. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process, the operation of the web site or otherwise in violation of the rules. Sponsor further reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate or modify this promotion if not capable of completion as planned, including infection by computer virus, technical corruption, non-authorized human intervention or force majeure. In the event of cancellation, Sponsor reserves the right to select winners from among eligible entries received prior to date of cancellation. The use of automated entry systems or any other conduct that impedes the integrity of the Challenge is prohibited. In the event of a dispute regarding an online entry, entry will be deemed made by the holder of an established e-mail account associated with the entry. Except where prohibited by law: (i) entry constitutes permission to use, modify, publish, transfer, edit or advertise winners? entry, recipe, name, hometown, voice, likeness, photograph and any statements regarding this Challenge for editorial, public relations, promotional and advertising purposes on behalf of Sponsor without compensation; (ii) potential winners will be required to complete and return an Affidavit of Eligibility/Ownership/Liability Release, Publicity Release and Assignment of all Rights in Pre-existing Work within ten (10) days of notification or the entry with the next highest score may become an alternate winner. If winner notification is returned as undeliverable, the entry with the next highest score may become an alternate winner. By participating and winning a prize, winners release Sponsor, its parents, affiliates, subsidiaries and agencies and their respective directors, officers, employees and agents from any and all liability with respect to the prize won and participation in the Challenge Subject to all U. S. federal, state and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited. Taxes on prizes are sole responsibility of winners. Winners will be issued IRS 1099 tax forms.
