Fall Centerpieces Photo Contest
OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.
The Fall Centerpieces Photo Contest entry period begins August 1, 2010, and ends December 4, 2010 (the "Entry Period"). Entries must be received by 11:59 p.m., C.T., on December 4, 2010 ("Entry Deadline"). Entries will not be acknowledged or returned. Sponsor: Meredith Corporation, 1716 Locust Street, Des Moines, Iowa.
ENTRY: Visit http://www.BHG.com/fallcenterpieces and click the button to enter. Then complete the registration form and follow the instructions to upload one (1) album of up to six (6) photos of a unique, original fall centerpiece project that you have created. The centerpiece cannot be derived from a kit, reproduced from a book, magazine, website or any other source. Materials used should be easily accessible. Photos must be taken by entrant, non-professional, unpublished and may not have won any prize or award. Photos must be .jpeg or .bmp image formats and cannot exceed 3 MB.
Photos must not contain material that violates or infringes the rights of another, including but not limited to privacy, publicity or intellectual property rights, or that constitutes copyright infringement. Photos must not contain brand names or trademarks. By entering, you represent and warrant that your entry does not violate or infringe the rights of another, including but not limited to privacy, publicity or intellectual property rights, and that no part of your entry materials constitutes copyright infringement.
Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to reject, disqualify, modify, edit and revise any entries, subjects, photos, or related materials that Sponsor deems, in its sole discretion, nude, obscene, defamatory, profane, offensive, lewd, pornographic, false, misleading, deceptive, or otherwise inconsistent with its editorial standards, audience expectations, or reputational interests or that Sponsor believes may violate any applicable law or regulation or the rights of any third party. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to verify any element of any entry or related materials and to disqualify any entrant whose participation may subject the contest, Sponsor, or Sponsor's advertisers, clients, or customers to controversy, negative publicity, scorn, or ridicule.
LIMIT: One entry per household. No group entries.
ELIGIBILITY: Legal residents of the 50 United States, and the District of Columbia, 18 years of age or older, except employees of Sponsor and any other organizations affiliated with the sponsorship, fulfillment, administration, prize support, advertisement or promotion of the Contest and their respective agents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and members of their immediate families or persons residing at the same address.
WINNER SELECTION: There will be two (2) rounds of judging:
First Round – Readers' Choice Finalist Selection

Each entrant will receive an email to notify them that their entry has been posted in the BHG Photo Faves gallery, which email will include a link to vote for the entry by way of a specified URL. Entrants will be invited to share the voting link with others, so that they may vote for the entry.
During the voting periods specified below, entries will be displayed in the BHG Photo Faves gallery, and visitors to the site will be invited to vote for their favorite entry based on the uniqueness of the idea and the aesthetic quality of the photograph. One vote per person (with a valid e-mail address) per day.
For each voting period, one (1) winner will be determined by highest number of votes received. In the event of a tie, a qualified panel of judges will determine the winner from among the tied entries based on the uniqueness of the idea and the aesthetic quality of the photograph.
Voting results are unofficial until verified by Sponsor.
First Voting Period: For contest entries submitted between 8/1/2010 and 8/7/2010 at 11:00 p.m. C.T., the Photo Faves voting period begins 8/9/2010 at 12:00 a.m. C.T. and ends 8/15/2010 at 11:59 p.m. C.T.
Second Voting Period: For contest entries submitted between 8/7/2010 11:01 p.m. C.T. and 8/14/2010 at 11:00 p.m. C.T., the Photo Faves voting period begins 8/16/2010 at 12:00 a.m. C.T. and ends 8/22/2010 at 11:59 p.m. C.T.
Third Voting Period: For contest entries submitted between 8/14/2010 11:01 p.m. C.T. and 8/21/2010 at 11:00 p.m. C.T., the Photo Faves voting period begins 8/23/2010 at 12:00 a.m. C.T. and ends 8/29/2010 at 11:59 p.m. C.T.
Fourth Voting Period: For contest entries submitted between 8/21/2010 11:01 p.m. C.T. and 8/28/2010 at 11:00 p.m. C.T., the Photo Faves voting period begins 8/30/2010 at 12:00 a.m. C.T. and ends 9/5/2010 at 11:59 p.m. C.T.
Fifth Voting Period: For contest entries submitted between 8/28/2010 11:01 p.m. C.T. and 9/4/2010 at 11:00 p.m. C.T., the Photo Faves voting period begins 9/6/2010 at 12:00 a.m. C.T. and ends 9/12/2010 at 11:59 p.m. C.T.
Sixth Voting Period: For contest entries submitted between 9/4/2010 11:01 p.m. C.T. and 9/11/2010 at 11:00 p.m. C.T., the Photo Faves voting period begins 9/13/2010 at 12:00 a.m. C.T. and ends 9/19/2010 at 11:59 p.m. C.T.
Seventh Voting Period: For contest entries submitted between 9/11/2010 11:01 p.m. C.T. and 9/18/2010 at 11:00 p.m. C.T., the Photo Faves voting period begins 9/20/2010 at 12:00 a.m. C.T. and ends 9/26/2010 at 11:59 p.m. C.T.
Eighth Voting Period: For contest entries submitted between 9/18/2010 11:01 p.m. C.T. and 9/25/2010 at 11:00 p.m. C.T., the Photo Faves voting period begins 9/27/2010 at 12:00 a.m. C.T. and ends 10/3/2010 at 11:59 p.m. C.T.
Ninth Voting Period: For contest entries submitted between 9/25/2010 11:01 p.m. C.T. and 10/2/2010 at 11:00 p.m. C.T., the Photo Faves voting period begins 10/4/2010 at 12:00 a.m. C.T. and ends 10/10/2010 at 11:59 p.m. C.T.
Tenth Voting Period: For contest entries submitted between 10/2/2010 11:01 p.m. C.T. and 10/9/2010 at 11:00 p.m. C.T., the Photo Faves voting period begins 10/11/2010 at 12:00 a.m. C.T. and ends 10/17/2010 at 11:59 p.m. C.T.
Eleventh Voting Period: For contest entries submitted between 10/9/2010 11:01 p.m. C.T. and 10/16/2010 at 11:00 p.m. C.T., the Photo Faves voting period begins 10/18/2010 at 12:00 a.m. C.T. and ends 10/24/2010 at 11:59 p.m. C.T.

Thirteenth Voting Period: For contest entries submitted between 10/23/2010 11:01 p.m. C.T. and 10/30/2010 at 11:00 p.m. C.T., the Photo Faves voting period begins 11/1/2010 at 12:00 a.m. C.T. and ends 11/7/2010 at 11:59 p.m. C.T.
Fourteenth Voting Period: For contest entries submitted between 10/30/2010 11:01 p.m. C.T. and 11/6/2010 at 11:00 p.m. C.T., the Photo Faves voting period begins 11/8/2010 at 12:00 a.m. C.T. and ends 11/14/2010 at 11:59 p.m. C.T.
Fifteenth Voting Period: For contest entries submitted between 11/6/2010 11:01 p.m. C.T. and 11/13/2010 at 11:00 p.m. C.T., the Photo Faves voting period begins 11/15/2010 at 12:00 a.m. C.T. and ends 11/21/2010 at 11:59 p.m. C.T.
Sixteenth Voting Period: For contest entries submitted between 11/13/2010 11:01 p.m. C.T. and 11/20/2010 at 11:00 p.m. C.T., the Photo Faves voting period begins 11/22/2010 at 12:00 a.m. C.T. and ends 11/28/2010 at 11:59 p.m. C.T.
Seventeenth Voting Period: For contest entries submitted between 11/20/2010 11:01 p.m. C.T. and 11/27/2010 at 11:00 p.m. C.T., the Photo Faves voting period begins 11/29/2010 at 12:00 a.m. C.T. and ends 12/5/2010 at 11:59 p.m. C.T.
Eighteenth Voting Period: For contest entries submitted between 11/27/2010 11:01 p.m. C.T. and 12/4/2010 at 11:00 p.m. C.T., the Photo Faves voting period begins 12/6/2010 at 12:00 a.m. C.T. and ends 12/12/2010 at 11:59 p.m. C.T.
Second Round – Editorial Judging
On or about December 30, 2010, a qualified panel of judges appointed by Sponsor will select one (1) grand prize winner from the eighteen (18) weekly winners based on aesthetics (30%), resourcefulness/creativity/originality (30%), ease of creation (25%) and quality of photo (15%). If a tie occurs in editorial judging, the entry from among the tied entries having the highest score in the criterion of aesthetics will be the winner. Decisions of judges are final and binding in all respects.
The eighteen (18) winners will each receive a signed winner certificate from Better Homes and Gardens. One (1) grand prize winner will receive a $1,000 check.
Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if prize (or a portion thereof) cannot be awarded as described. Sponsor will determine all elements of prizing in its sole discretion. Prizes may not be assigned, transferred, or changed, except at the sole discretion of Sponsor. Prizes are awarded "as is" with no warranty or guarantee express or implied. Sponsor disclaims all and any liability for the actual provision, quality or nature of any third party product or service accepted by the winners. The awarding of any prize is contingent upon full compliance with these Official Rules. Entrants agree to be bound by Official Rules and agree that if any winner fails to provide proof of identity, refuses to provide affidavit, is found to have violated Official Rules or otherwise does not meet eligibility criteria, prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner. Entrants understand that Sponsor is not liable for injuries, losses or damages of any kind arising from participation in this promotion and acceptance, possession and use of prize. Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the contest or in the announcement of the prize.
VOTE COUNTS DISPLAYED ONLINE MAY NOT BE ACCURATE. RESULTS ARE UNOFFICIAL UNTIL ALL ONLINE VOTES HAVE BEEN COUNTED AND VERIFIED BY SPONSOR.
Decisions of Sponsor are final and binding in all respects.
DISPUTE RESOLUTION: Except where prohibited, by participating Contest entrants agree that: All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of participant(s) and Sponsor and its agents shall be governed by and construed exclusively in accordance with the laws of the State of New York without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law of any jurisdiction. Entrant agrees that any action at law or in equity arising out of or relating to this Contest, or awarding of the prizes, shall be filed only in the state or federal courts located in the State of New York and entrant hereby consents and submits to the personal jurisdiction of such courts for the purposes of litigating any such action. Except where prohibited, by participating in this Contest, entrant agrees that: (a) any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, or awarding of the prizes, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; and (b) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with participating in this Contest but in no event attorneys' fees; and (c) under no circumstances will any participant be permitted to obtain awards for and hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitations or exclusion of liability for incidental or consequential damages, so the above may not apply to you.
OTHER: Sponsor assumes no responsibility for entries or votes it is unable to process due to network, hardware or other technical failures; or any other reason, or incomplete, damaged, misdirected, or lost entries or votes. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process, the voting process, the operation of the web site or otherwise in violation of these Official Rules. Sponsor further reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate or modify this promotion if not capable of completion as planned, including infection by computer virus, technical corruption, non-authorized human intervention, force majeure or any other causes beyond the control of the Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, or integrity of the contest. In the event of cancellation, Sponsor reserves the right to select winners from among all eligible entries received prior to date of cancellation. The use of automated entry systems or any other conduct that impedes the integrity of the contest is prohibited. In the event of a dispute regarding online entry, entry will be deemed made by the holder of an established e-mail account associated with the entry.
RELEASES: By participating in this contest and accepting any prize that they may win, entrants agree to release Sponsor, its parent, subsidiary, affiliated and successor companies, advertising and promotion agencies and prize suppliers, and each of their respective officers, directors, agents, representatives and employees, as well as each of their respective successors, representatives and assigns (collectively, the "Released Parties") from any and all actions, claims, injury, loss or damage arising in any manner, directly or indirectly, from participation in this contest and/or acceptance or use of the prize. Entrants authorize the Released Parties to use their name, voice, likeness, biographical data, city and state of residence and entry materials in promotional material and for advertising, public relations and editorial purposes in any media, worldwide, in perpetuity, or on a winners' list, if applicable, without further compensation unless prohibited by law. Sponsor is not obligated to use any of the above-mentioned information or materials, but may do so and may edit such information or materials, at Sponsor's sole discretion, without further obligation or compensation.
Except where prohibited by law, winners will be required to complete and return an Affidavit of Eligibility/Ownership/Liability Release, Publicity Release, and License of Work within ten (10) days of notification or the entry with the next highest score may become an alternate winner. If winner notification is returned as undeliverable, the entry with the next highest score may become an alternate winner. Subject to all U. S. federal, state and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited. Taxes on prizes are the sole responsibility of the winners. Grand prize winner will be issued an IRS 1099 tax form in the amount of the prize value as stated herein.
