Ponytail palm

Beaucarnea recurvata

Ponytail palm

Despite its palm-like appearance and common name, ponytail palm is not a true palm. It is a succulent with a bulbous lower trunk that stores water. Provide it with bright light and keep it relatively dry. Normal room temperature is good for it most of the year, but in winter keep it cooler (50-55 degrees F). It is sometimes sold as _Nolina recurvata_.
