Tulip Bulbs

I planted tulip bulbs in the fall of 2008. My tulip plants come up full and early in the spring but the edges of the leaves turn brown and curl. The plants produce few flowers. What could be wrong with them?

Hi, Well your tulips are not blooming well because most tulips are only designed to bloom well for one year, or at the most two. Only species types of tulips come back year after year and do well. The more commonly grown types (Darwin, Darwin Hybrid, Cottage) can't be relied on to provide a good flower show for more than one year. I'd dig them and replant in the fall. Or, replace them with species varieties or with daffodils, which do come back year after year.
