WHERE TO PLANT ROSES?
I WANT TO PLANT MY KNOCK OUT ROSES WHERE AN OAK STUMP HAS ROTTED ALMOST AWAY. SOIL IS LOOSE AND LOVELY. I WILL TEST PH IF THIS WOULD BE AN ACCEPTABLE PLACE. HAS LOTS OF SUN. THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP. THESE ROSES WERE A GIFT FROM MY GRAND DAUGHTER SO I WANT THEM TO LIVE LONG AND HEALTHY! MARIA

Hi,

Thanks for writing. If the stump has primarily rotted away, it sounds like a very good place to plant your roses. If the stump is still rotting, the soil may be low in nitrogen because as microbes break down the stump, they consume nitrogen. So if the leaves look a little pale, giving your roses a little extra fertilizer may help.
