What are flowers that still look good in late summer?
hello I live in Woodbridge ont. I have found most of my gardening inspiration from Home and Gardens. My daughter is getting married late august of 2011. I would like to plant long lasting flowers in the spring that still look good in august/sept. Can you suggest some? I have a large front yard and a very large back yard. Normally in the front I plant lots of petunias and have four large containers What would you suggest?

Thanks for writing. Most annuals (petunias, angelonia, heliotrope, salvia, ageratum, cosmos, begonias, annual phlox, etc.) should continue to bloom well into late summer if you keep them watered and fertilized. Some, like many varieties of petunias, benefit from being pinched back to keep flushing out lots of healthy new growth and blooms.

See a great selection of annuals in our Plant Guide! http://www.bhg.com/gardening/plant-dictionary/annual/
