How do I make a sheet cake look more special?
Do you have any good ideas for making a sheet cake look less like a sheet cake and more like something special?

Sheet cakes are a smart way to serve large groups, but they do tend to look like bakery cakes rather than homemade cakes unless you doll them up. One of the easiest ways to make a sheet cake look company-special is to score the cake into serving-size squares, and then apply a delicious doodad atop each portion.

Some easy toppings include gumdrops, halved bite-size chocolate-covered peanut butter cups, chocolate-dipped pretzel twists, and heart-shape chocolates. Use your imagination!

You can always make cupcakes instead of a sheet cake to make it more look less like a grocery store cake. You can use a cookie cutter to make shapes with it then crumble the remaining cake pieces and use them on the side of the individual cakes i.e Mississippi cake. Cut it into long rectangles and use different icings on the individual rectangles.Another left turn could be to make a trifle with the cake. Petit fours would also be fun especially for a large party.
