You can start hollyhock seeds either in early fall or spring. If you plant them outdoors in fall, they need an early enough start to get established before winter sets in. At this late date, it's likely better to wait until late winter or spring. You can start seeds indoors several weeks before your last frost date. By doing so, your hollyhocks may bloom the first year from seed. Otherwise, they may not bloom until the following year.
