Pruning and moving plants in the fall vs the spring.
When do you move hostas? How do I know if I should cut back my clematis plants and hydrangea?

Hi, Sorry for the slow response, but our Garden Doctor program has been down for about a month. Hostas can be moved at most any time, but spring or fall are best. I do not recommend cutting back either clematis or hydrangea in the fall. Clematis is best pruned in the spring after new growth sprouts and you can see where the dead branches are that need to be removed. Hydrangeas are best pruned in mid-summer right after their flowers fade.
