Butterfly bushes
What do I do with my butterfly bushes now that it is the end of the season. Trim? Also, hydrangaes and knock out roses. Thanks.

Hi, So sorry for the delay in answering. Our Garden Doctor system was being rebuilt for about a month. Anyway, leave your butterfly bushes alone. In your zone they are not reliably winter hardy so I recommend waiting until spring to see if they return before pruning. If your roses require pruning, do it in the late winter while the plants are dormant. Prune hydrangeas in the mid to late summer, right after the flowers fade. If you prune them in the fall or winter, you'll eliminate flower buds for next year.
