MY HOSTA''S ARE DYING AND TURNING YELLOW
MY HOSTAS WERE DOING GREAT-THEN THEY STARTED TURNING YELLOW AT THE BOTTOM OF THE STEM AND LAYING DOWN THERE IS A WHITE SUBSTANCE AND IT LOOKS TO BE EATING THE STEMS AWAY- ALSO I HAVE CREEPING FIG IN THE SAME SPOT AND IT IS ALL DYEING AND TURNING BLACK- WHAT COULD THIS BE?

Thanks for writing. I'm really sorry, but I can't say for sure what's going on in your yard without being able to see your plants. This free service really isn't meant for diagnosing plant problems like this where examining the plants and seeing where they're growing is necessary to give you a good answer.

 

I'd suggest you contact the folks at a reputable local nursery or your county extension office. Bring them samples of the affected hosta and creeping fig and they should be able to help better.
