California Poppies
I planted lots of California poppies from seed and had wonderful success with them. Now that we're in our hot CA summer, the plants are dead and the pods are bursting. Can I simply remove the dead plants and let the seeds sow themselves? Or, do I need to harvest the seeds and replant in the spring?

Hi, These plants do a good job of reseeding themselves. I'd do both things--let a lot of the seed pods spread naturally and hold some back to reseed yourself to fill in open places that don't get natural volunteers next season.
