rid my property of japanese knotweed
The leaves are a pretty green heart on red stems that have severel leaves on one stalk as it grows...tallest I've seen it grow is 5 or 6 feet...We have been trying to rid lawn and pasture of this by mowing just as soon as it comes up to keep the roots from getting any bigger. You can not dig the root sysem up

Thanks for writing. You may need to use a brush-killing herbicide, such as Roundup, on the plants. Then reapply as soon as you see any growth; reapplication may be necessary three or four times since the plants have such strong root systems. If there are desirable plants nearby, you can spot-treat by apply the brush killer with a paintbrush.
