Drought-tolerant grass
We live in North Central South Dakota where we have been in a severe drought for several years. Is there a type of native grass we can plant that will tolerate the drought without having to water every day but still be nice to walk on with bare feet? We have dogs and someday we'll have kids so we need something that can handle that kind of traffic, too.

Buffalo grass only needs up to 30" of water each year, as opposed to Kentucky blue grass, which needs twice that amount. I suggest Legacy Buffalo Grass (Bucheloe dactyloides 'Legacy') which is a warm-season grass and makes a tightly-knit lawn.
