harvesting herb seeds
I have a cilantro and a basil in pots on my porch. I want to harvest the seeds. I don't know what to do or how to store them for next year. I live in the southern tip of Illinois.
Harvest the seeds when the seedheads ripen from green to brown. Snip off the seedheads and store them in a sealed paper envelope or paper bag in the refrigerator. These conditions offer the right temperature and humidity to keep the seeds live and viable until you're ready to sow them.
