When to cut back coneflowers
My coneflowers are finished flowering now-when do I cut them back. I've been told to leave the seeds or pods for the birds through the winter-is that right?

Yes, you can leave the flower heads for the birds over the winter  or you can cut them back now. Just be aware that if you leave the flower heads they will likely spread seeds that will sprout in your garden next year. So, if you don't want the coneflowers to spread, cut them down in the fall. Or, just leave a few for the birds.
