Sticky substance on schefflera
I have a schefflera that is in a bright sun room, but doesn't get direct sun. Periodically it gets a sticky substance on its leaves and it drips on to my table. What is causing this and what am I doing wrong? Thank you for any help you can give me.

Sounds like mealybugs have infested your plant. Put your plant in the kitchen sink and wash it off with a spray of soapy water. Then remove any cottony stuff that you see with your fingers or with a strong spray of water. You could also apply a pesticide made for mealybugs, or just cut off any remaining infested parts.
